Position Summary The sales support position is responsible for promoting sales to existing and new customers, serving as the primary coverage for the telephone, showroom sales, taking and tracking customer orders, maintaining and soliciting new builder accounts, calculating pricing based upon company policies and supporting the outside sales personnel. Essential Position Functions

  • Maintains working knowledge of all product lines, applications, colors, options, and special-order catalogs to assist showroom customers with selections within budget, home design and established builder guidelines.
  • Answers the telephone, directs non-sales calls to appropriate personnel and answers sales or customer phone inquiries properly and professionally.
  • Quotes and calculates product price and estimates following company pricing guidelines.
  • Creates estimates using QuickBooks.
  • Assists outside sales/estimators with proposal preparation.
  • Advises customers as to best product within budget or builder’s allowance and ensures builder’s authorization for any products over allowance.
  • Assists showroom and telephone customers with setting appointments for measurement services.
  • Uses vendor suppled software applications to design and produce work orders for production and communicates all orders to production for scheduling.
  • Contacts builders to create new accounts, completes associated paperwork and builds customer database in Excel.
  • Provides excellent customer service on the phone and in person to all patrons of National Home Products including accurately completing customer orders, effectively communicating return policies, estimate and pricing policies.
  • Obtains down payments and establishes payment terms with customers.
  • Promotes new and additional sales to existing clients and builds upon exiting customer database.
  • Reviews accuracy of all orders including verifying part numbers for order input. Additional Duties
  • Provides phone follow-up to all customers to ensure satisfaction with products and installation services. Encourages customers to leave positive feedback on Google, Facebook, and/or Houzz.
  • Serves as representative of National Home Products to collect purchase order quotes from approved vendors.
  • Maintains awareness of current home building and design trends in the community.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Scope of Responsibility Following company guidelines, this position is responsible for accurately calculating and quoting estimates for customers based upon rules and guidelines set by management, contacting vendors as a representative of the company to make arrangements for purchase quotes, and for accurately preparing projects for measuring.

Education and Experience Required:

High School Diploma or GED Equivalent. Ability to use Microsoft Word & Excel and Google Workspace. One-year prior experience in home construction products or other retail sales with direct customer contact.

Preferred:

Two to four years prior sales experience in home construction products with direct customer contact in local area. Ability to use QuickBooks. Physical and Mental Requirements To fulfill the essential functions of this position, the incumbent must be able to communicate effectively with coworkers and customers with various backgrounds and educational levels both verbally over the phone and in writing. Perform basic business math calculations, use vendor software, organize and manage time effectively, remove and demonstrate products for customers by opening and closing doors, showing product details, repositioning closet shelving, removing cabinet hardware, and retrieving products from inventory. Incumbents must be able to lift a minimum of fifteen pounds on a regular basis. Position requires the ability to sit and stand for extended periods of time while working with customers. Their performance in this regard will be measured along with overall performance. Working Conditions The employee must be able to work in a typical office environment. Employee may be asked to retrieve products from inventory in production area. Although not typical, this position may require showroom coverage on Saturdays as needed.

Given:

this position does not supervise any other positions. However, this position must maintain productive working relationships with accounts receivable, production and outside sales functions.

The sales support position is supervised by the Office Manager and Company Owners. Position Assessments This position will be evaluated by customer satisfaction and the ability of the employee to effectively meet customer needs and resolve complaints, knowledge of product lines, ability to accurately and effectively use vendor software to create estimates and orders, and ability to accurately complete related paperwork and data entry for installation and billing using guidelines set forth by management.
