Job Summary :
Under the supervision of the Laboratory Analyst, collect water and wastewater samples from various locations, ensure samples are handled properly, and ensure they meet quality and regulatory standards. The ideal candidate will have a keen eye for detail, a strong understanding of sampling protocols, and a commitment to maintaining safety and compliance. Duties Collect representative water and wastewater samples from various sources including treatment plants, pipelines, reservoirs, industrial sites, and environmental sampling points. Ensure proper sample preservation and handling according to established guidelines and regulatory standards (e.g., temperature control, appropriate containers, etc.). Label and document all sample information accurately, including location, date, time, and any special observations. Transport samples to the laboratory promptly while adhering to safety and regulatory protocols. Maintain and calibrate sampling equipment, ensuring it is clean, functional, and ready for use. Coordinate with laboratory and field staff to ensure the smooth flow of sample collection and testing processes. Adhere to environmental health and safety standards while collecting samples in the field. Perform basic field testing (e.g., pH, turbidity, chlorine levels) when required. Assist with maintaining inventory of sampling materials, chemicals, and equipment. Communicate any issues or abnormalities observed during sample collection to the appropriate staff. Keep accurate and up-to-date records of all sampling activities, including sample storage and transportation conditions. Participate in routine training and stay updated on industry regulations and best practices. Perform other duties as assigned.
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, EQUIPMENT & OTHER
Prior experience in water/wastewater sampling or environmental fieldwork is an advantage. Knowledge of water and wastewater systems, sampling protocols, and environmental regulations. Familiarity with laboratory testing and basic water quality parameters (e.g., pH, dissolved oxygen, turbidity, etc.). Strong attention to detail and accuracy in sample collection, documentation, and reporting. Experience with field testing equipment and water quality parameters. Familiarity with safety protocols for handling hazardous materials and working in industrial environments. Ability to work independently and in a team environment. Effective communication skills and ability to work with different teams. Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to travel to various sampling locations. Willingness to work in outdoor environments in various weather conditions.

Possession of a valid State driver’s license. Possession of, or ability to obtain an appropriate, valid C.P.R. Certificate.
