Summary of Job Duties:
The Research Assistant (RA) should have experience working in a laboratory setting. Our laboratory is interested in experimental pediatric heart transplantation. The RA will be responsible for designing, conducting, and analyzing experiments. Operations involving open heart surgery are led by a surgeon with clinical training, who will work with the RA. The RA would be required to work independently on research projects and prepare manuscripts for publication. The RA will also attend daily clinical rounds to interact with the clinically active members of the laboratory. Our laboratory is well-funded. The ideal candidate would still be interested in obtaining grant funding to achieve career progression to faculty or staff scientist.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, Medicine, or related field plus three (3) years of research experience required.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Must have experience in surgery or a laboratory setting. Ability to carry out experiments in a laboratory setting. Knowledge in transplantation. Willingness to perform animal studies is required.
