JOB SUMMARY
The Research/Lab Assistant will provide assistance to LECOM faculty members. This assistance is typically provided in the development of a specific program focusing on various research and other related matters.
CHARACTERISTIC JOB TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
+ Promote and preserve the mission of LECOM; + Act in a friendly, professional manner when dealing with faculty, students and visitors at all times; + Daily responsibilities may involve animal care (i.e. animal handling, feeding, changing & cleaning cages), sectioning and processing brain tissue, data collection, analysis and presentation; + Hours worked not to exceed 20/week; + Maintain confidentiality, professional appearance, and pleasant demeanor; + Meet with faculty members, on an as needed basis, to work on various assignments; + Report to the Coordinator of the individual program; + Weekly hours worked will be submitted to Pre-Clinical Education; and + Other duties as needed / assigned by the Provost and/or her designee to maintain efficient and effective daily operations. : Must possess required knowledge and be able to explain and demonstrate, with or without reasonable accommodations, that the essential functions of the job can be performed. + Excellent organizational skills; + Excellent communication skills; + Must demonstrate the motor skills required of all LECOM medical school students as specified in the Health & Technical Standards section of the student handbook; + Maintaining an established work schedule; + Ability to be self-reliant and follow instructions; + Maintaining confidentiality of work related information and materials; + Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships; + The ability to accept work requests from other managers and supervisors in a respectful and cooperative manner and to independently answer such requests; + The ability to work cooperatively and collegially with others, consistent with a workplace of dignity and respect and EEO rules and regulations; + The ability to devote full attention and energy to the important work of LECOM in a timely fashion; and + Be able to be flexible to accept other duties needed/assigned for the Institution’s needs.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
: Education and experience equivalent to: being a current or recent LECOM student who has received approval to work from the Associate Dean of Pre-Clinical Education.
