ESSENTIAL JOB

FUNCTIONSThe list of essential functions, as outlined herein, is intended to be representative of the tasks performed within this classification. It is not necessarily descriptive of any one position in the class. • The Naturalist will assist nature center staff with educational programs such as field trips, nature trips, and public programs
• May help with activities such as games, teambuilding, etc
• Helps with care of live animals including reptiles, amphibians, fish, and insects
• May include exhibit staffing, youth day camp chaperone, gift shop worker/cashier, etc
• Occasional use of cleaning agents requiring mixing according to label instructions and use with prescribed safety precautions and directions
• Provides set-up for events and activities
• May be required to work some nights, weekends, holidays, and possible overtime
• Performs other related duties as required

SKILLS AND REQUIREMENTS

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Ability to work with kids of all ages
• Ability to work weekends and holidays
• Ability to work outside in all conditions
• Self-motivated and passionate about learning and educating the general public about natural history
