This role is ideal for someone passionate about using data to drive impact, foster player progression, grow the fan base, and support long-term community engagement strategies. This is a new position at the Foundation and is critical for continued be best in class programming for youth and community hockey. The position requires 20 hours per week during the academic year and 40 hours during the summer at a rate of $30 per hour. Start date is negotiable, preferably summer 2025, and no later than the end of the calendar year.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

Serve as a thought-leader using data to grow the fan base and ticket sales by collecting, analyzing, and presenting business data to enable informed decision-making, and strategic direction and growth for Foundation programs, including but not limited to, PensFIT, Pittsburgh Pennies and Sidney Crosby’s Learn to Play Hockey. Serve as Foundation expert in Salesforce conversion and in report design and implementation. Collaborate with internal departments and external partners to collect, organize, and centralize relevant data sources On a regular basis, build, maintain and present dashboards to track program participation, demographics, geographic reach, behavior trends, retention, and ticket conversions Apply technical and statistical methods to generate insights that inform marketing, digital strategy, ticket sales, and partnerships Create clear, actionable reports and data visualizations for stakeholders, funders, and league partners Develop and maintain data collection processes and standardized metrics to ensure accuracy and integrity Design fan-facing surveys and analyze results to support program evaluation and improvement Deliver actionable insights and recommendations to enhance inclusion, community engagement, and long-term fan development Help define and refine KPIs aligned with organizational goals and grant objectives; Respond to ad-hoc data requests and contribute to cross-functional projects as needed Candidates should possess the following qualifications: Bachelor’s degree or higher in Economics, Business, or Mathematical field Previous experience in a consulting, analytics, or similar role preferred (internship or entry-level role acceptable) Programming experience (SQL preferred, R/Python a plus) Familiarity with business intelligence platforms (e.g. Tableau, Power BI, Domo, Excel) Experience working in a data warehouse environment and/or with relational databases Excellent interpersonal and communication skills Ability and commitment to a team approach to projects Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines Strong presentation skills and the ability to effectively communicate findings from complex data analysis Strong work ethic and professional decorum Passion for community work and youth sports development is highly valued Familiarity and experience with hockey is a plus

This can be either a one-or two-year fellowship based in Pittsburgh, PA. The position is supported through a grant from the Industry Growth Fund of the NHL, and the Pittsburgh Penguins Foundation.
