This role is responsible for the full lifecycle management ofIBM i (AS/400) systems, including daily operations, systemconfiguration, performance tuning, security, and disaster recovery.
The ideal candidate will have deep technical expertise in IBM PowerSystems in a multi-partition environment and a proactive approachto system reliability and optimization.
Key Responsibilities :
Manage all aspects of daily IBM i system operations: User Profiles,Subsystems, Job Queues, Output Queues, Job Descriptions, and jobrouting. Backup and restore operations using BRMS , including BRMSnetworking. Configure and deploy new IBM i partitions and systemsfrom the ground up. Implement and maintain robust system security,to include User access control, object-level security, dataprotection, and secure entry points. Monitor and optimize systemperformance and resource utilization. Manage disk storage, SANswitches, and IBM Flash System configurations. Perform systemfirmware upgrades and updates. Install and manage IBM i OS,Licensed Program Products (LPPs), Program Temporary Fixes (PTFs),and third-party software. Upgrade IBM i OS versions and manage PTFlifecycle. Configure and troubleshoot network communications(TCP/IP, APPN, APPC, routing, and interfaces). Configure, monitor,and upgrade HMC appliances. Oversee database management, includingjournaling and recovery procedures. Ensure seamless integration andconnectivity with Windows servers and other platforms. Collaboratewith development teams; programming experience is a plus.
RequiredQualifications :
5 years of hands-on experience with IBM iSeries /AS/400 / Power Systems. Strong knowledge of BRMS, HMC, and IBM i OSadministration. Experience with system builds, OS upgrades, and PTFmanagement. Proficiency in configuring and managing TCP/IP, APPN,and related protocols. Familiarity with SAN environments and IBMstorage solutions. Solid understanding of IBM i securityarchitecture and best practices.
