Required Education:
- A bachelor’s degree from anaccredited college or university
Preferred Certification:
- Microsoft Certified Solutions or Professional Developer or similar.
Database Administrator Minimum Required Skills:
- Ten (10) years ofsuccessful database Administration and data-driven systemdevelopment/integration experience using Microsoft SQL Server.
- Knowledge of the principles, practices, and techniques of computerprogramming and systems design.
- Ability to evaluate and implementusers’ requests for new data elements and systems and incorporateinto the existing shared data environment.
- Ability to coordinatethe use of the organization’s data to ensure data integrity andcontrol redundancy.
- Ability to perform data modeling andprototyping.
- Knowledge of maintaining necessary databasesecurity.
- Skilled in monitoring database performance andimplementing efficiency improvements.
- Ability to create a testdatabase environment for the applications section, including thecreation of necessary libraries and procedures.
- Ability todevelop and maintain database access procedures to ensure theproper control of the database.
- Ability to assistprogrammers/analysts in programming database objects and conductwalk-throughs to ensure database efficiency.
- Ability to prepareprogram specifications.
- Ability to set up and/or execute the jobsnecessary to save, retrieve, and recover databases from hardwareand software failures within established procedures.

Database Administrator Preferred Skills:
- Experience with APDClient Management data and Administrative data systems to includeABC, iBudget, iConnect, and the APD data warehouses.
DatabaseAdministrator Responsibilities:
- Works as a subject matter expertfor data integration, data exchange and interfaces between internaland external systems associated with the agency’s budget andfinancial business units. Assists in the definition, development,and documentation of the business requirements, objectives,deliverables, and specifications needed to develop softwareprograms and applications.
- Collaborates between the applicationdeveloper/DBA and the business unit on working with various Client,budget and financial systems. Writes programming scripts necessaryto enhance functionality and/or performance of existing APDapplications as necessary.
- Acts as a liaison between APD and theexternal agency technical staff on resolving issues withinterfaces, data integration and data exchange jobs associated withFLAIR.
- Liaise with network administrators, databaseadministrators, system analysts, and business owners to assist inresolving problems with applications and programs.
- Perform systemtesting and maintain the test results for various APD systems.
