Telecom/Network Specialist Job Summary:

Talent SoftwareServices is in search of a Sr. Telecom/Network Specialist for acontract position in Rochester, MN(Hybrid). The opportunity will besix months with a strong chance for a long-term extension.

PrimaryResponsibilities/Accountabilities:

Working in multiple networkinfrastructure disciplines including routing, switching, andwireless. Demonstrates knowledge and proficiency with basic networkand network security monitoring/management tools. Utilizes,operates and maintains network security infrastructure and servicesinvolving network access control, network segmentation (TrustSec,Client), VPN, secure web browsing, internet caching and DNSsecurity devices to ensure data integrity and network security ismaintained. Provides assistance and may be asked to take a networkleadership role with network troubleshooting and remediation ofsecurity related incidents or network security investigations incoordination with the Help Desk, ITOC and SOC. Familiar withsoftware defined networking tools including, but not limited to,firewalls, WAN/LAN, SASE, and Cloud networking. Familiar withscripting and automation tools such as Splunk, Ansible, Python, and.

Net. Knowledge of standard project methodology (Agile and/orWaterfall) processes, tools and terminologies. Provides technicalexpertise to installation and problem solving related toinfrastructure hardware or software. Independently configures,installs, monitors, diagnoses, and repairs complex multi-platformand multi-protocol enterprise telecom/data network equipment.

Coordinates the planning and installation or upgrade of equipmentaccording to specifications and needs of the equipment user. Undergeneral supervision, participates in decisions on technicaldirection, architecture design and product selections for theenterprise telecommunications/networks systems. Responsible forescalation with vendor and internally during outages or periods ofdegraded system performance. Interfaces with customers duringoutages where the loss of service may have a serious impact ontheir ability to do their job. Provides technical evaluation andrecommendation for monitoring tools. Evaluates new products andprovides input to telecom/network engineers on supportability.

Oversees projects and tasks assigned to team members and may beasked to provide input to their evaluations. Accountable forproject results. Participates in the discussions of short and longterm section strategies and processes. Occasionally works understressful conditions, leading implementations and troubleshootingefforts that may have significant patient care and/or financialimpact to the organization. In-depth knowledge of telecom/networkprotocols, 7-layer OSI model, software, hardware and cablingsystems. Knowledge of basic telecom/network monitoring andmanagement tools.

Qualification:

Bachelor’s degree in a technicaldiscipline with a minimum of 2 years professional work experienceor an Associate’s degree with a minimum of 4 years professionalwork experience. A minimum of 6 years of professional technicalexperience in telecom/data networking required for individualswithout a degree.
