Systems Administrator 3.1 3.1 out of 5 stars 1001 West Fayette Street, Syracuse, NY 13204 Job Summary We currently have an opening for a Systems Administrator to join the team and support our continued growth. The ideal candidate for this role will enjoy a variety of IT related work and excel in an environment that provides a dynamic mix of day-to-day tasks, problem solving, and larger long-term projects. This is a full-time, on-site position with a primary schedule of Monday through Friday during daytime hours with very occasional off-hours work to minimize disruption of systems availability. The position of Systems Administrator is responsible for providing and maintaining PC, desktop, network, software, and application services in a manufacturing environment. The position is also responsible for first-level Help Desk support, as needed, to answer/resolve end user questions/problems in addition to monitoring multiple systems including LAN/WAN/Wireless networks, servers and applications. The position requires excellent soft skills to ensure that services are provided effectively, efficiently and collaboratively with other teams and departments. Strong technical and analytical skills will be required to assist with resolving problems in a timely manner. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Administer Business System and Application Servers. Develop and maintain scripts designed to ease system administration tasks and duties. Analyze and monitor performance of systems and servers. Schedules, installs and tests system software upgrades. Administer user accounts in Active Directory, Office 365, and other corporate applications as deemed necessary. Serves as technical support for a manufacturing operation. Integrate new applications and technologies into the IT environment. Develop training materials and procedures, or train users in the proper use of hardware or software. Confer with staff, users and management to develop requirements for new systems or modifications. Provide IT support for all assigned service tickets. Install and perform minor repairs to hardware, software or peripheral equipment. Works independently to diagnose and solve complex technical problems. Image, configure and update desktops and laptops to company standards. Set up equipment for employee use, performing or ensuring proper installation of cables, operating systems, or appropriate software. Provide technical assistance to computer system users. Answer questions or resolve computer problems for users in person, via telephone, or through remote assistance applications. Other responsibilities as deemed appropriate or necessary by management. Flexible to perform occasional after-hours maintenance as needed.
Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, Computer Information Systems or a related technical discipline with 0-2 years of experience or a combination of related experience, education and/or training to sufficiently and successfully perform the essential functions of the job. Minimum of three years of experience supporting end users, providing technical assistance and resolving technical issues for all known operating systems. Demonstrated ability to work on projects/tickets of limited complexity in a support role. Experience in diagnosing complex technical issues. Knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices and procedures within the field. Working knowledge of systems management and deployment appliances. Ability to communicate technical concepts to technical and non-technical audiences through use of written and oral communication. Analytical and problem-solving skills. Demonstrates aptitude and enthusiasm for learning new technologies. Broad knowledge of operating systems and commonly used software applications. Strong troubleshooting skills. Ability to prioritize responsibilities, manage multiple projects, work under deadlines and work under pressure. Competent with computer software such as Microsoft Office (Access, Excel, MS Project, PowerPoint, Publisher, Outlook, Word).
Preferred Qualifications:
CompTIA A+, CompTIA Network+, and MCSA Certifications preferred. Automation / AI experience preferred. Experience with supporting and migrating ERP systems preferred. Programming experience preferred.
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to lift and carry awkward items weighing up to 50 pounds. Requires intermittent standing, walking, sitting and bending throughout the workday. Must be able to work in a manufacturing environment, to include working in and around machinery, exposure to noise etc.
