Description
C++ Software Developer with PLC Experience
The GBS Group has an exciting opportunity for a Software Developer. As a Software Developer with GBS, you will work both independently and with a team of programmers and engineers on complex projects related to Naval ship platforms. The position will develop coded models of electrical, electronic, and mechanical control systems using agile techniques while developing professional leadership skills and assisting in the creation of Cyber-based solutions. The position will also contribute real value by developing, troubleshooting and testing of solutions providing software/hardware security of Naval platforms.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Support the development, maintenance, and delivery of Machinery Control System (MCS) software for naval ships.
Contribute to aspects of the software life cycle including but not limited to, requirements definition, software development, documentation, testing, deployment, support and maintenance.
Design, develop, test, install, and maintain Machinery and Damage Control Systems software and supporting software products.
Analyze, test, and propose solutions to problems in operational software
Utilize version control systems. (Git; Subversion a plus)
Identify and resolve software issues through debugging, research and investigation.
Provide remote and onsite support of software-related hardware problems.
Write, review and maintain technical documentation such as user manuals, product specifications and training materials.
Assist with special projects as needed.
Qualifications
Candidates must possess the following professional experience and qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in related field of engineering from an accredited college or university.
Experience with C++ and Powershell scripting
Database knowledge
Windows OS installation/config/administration experience
Full development life cycle – design, develop, test, installation, deployment, and maintenance.
Willing to work within the scope of “mature” software/system/requirements
Must be able to meet CSWF requirements (Sec+ and Windows administrations)
Visual Studio and Visual C++ experience
Hardware experience (computers, electronics)
PLC experience
Networking hardware and protocols knowledge
Cybersecurity knowledge
Physical / Mental Requirements
Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
Basic math computational skills
Must be able to access and navigate all areas of the (Naval/ Maritime) facility or ship.

Salary:

$82,000 – $110,000 based on experience
