Description:
The System Safety Analyst will support the government’s application and management of a System Safety Program for multiple weapon system programs, including IAW MIL-STD-882E and DA Pam 385-16.
Responsibilities:
Conducting safety assessments and hazards analyses of hardware and software that entail missiles, rockets, launchers, and related combat equipment. Prepare and/or update Safety Assessment Reports, Hazards Analyses, and System Safety Risk Assessments. Prepare and/or review System Safety Management Plans (SSMPs), System Safety Program Plans (SSPPs), and related safety documentation. Conduct and/or review system safety assessments of new, updated, and/or modified system hardware, including change, waiver, and exemption requests. Assess design and system test documentation for incorporation of system safety related requirements and assess test data to verify system safety requirements. Perform technical System Safety Reviews and develop the required documentation for Government acceptance. Meet or coordinate with Government and contractor engineers, technical and test agency personnel, and Safety Office representatives to review safety-related documentation, test reports, test data, and incident data and assess or coordinate safety implications and risk levels for users. Review contractor documentation for safety implications and support the development of inputs to Statements of Work and specifications from a safety perspective.
Qualifications:
Master’s degree and 8 years of relevant experience, or a bachelor’s degree and 10 years of relevant functional experience, or HS and 14 years of relevant experience. A highly skilled and extremely knowledgeable individual who has comprehensive knowledge of SOW areas and performs specialty engineering or analysis. Carries out complex or novel assignments or performs work of a specialized nature. Acts as a resource for colleagues with less experience. Requires conceptual and practical expertise in their own discipline and basic knowledge of related disciplines. Has knowledge of best practices and how their area integrates with others, is able to utilize, operate, and analyze complex systems. Must have knowledge of MIL-STD-882 and missile, rocket, and launcher weapon systems.
