Learn to intelligently detect and take down cyber threats What you'll learn: 7 threat intelligence phasesHunting - The goal of hunting is to establish techniques to collect samples from different sources that help to start profiling malicious threat actors.Extraction -The goal of Features Extraction is to identify unique static features in malware binaries that help classify them into malicious groups.Behavior Extraction - Identifies unique dynamic features in binaries that help classify them as malicious.'Correlation and Clustering' - This method identifies malware based on its behavior and features and uses that information to classify it.Threat Actor Attribution - The goal of Threat Actors is to locate the threat actors behind the malicious clusters identified.Tracking - The goal of tracking is to anticipate new attacks and identify new variants proactively. The Cyber Security Threat Intelligence Researcher Certification will help you acquire the skills needed to find out who is behind an attack, what the specific threat group is, the nation from which the attack is being launched, as well as techniques being used to launch this attack. You will know how to take a small piece of malware, find out who is responsible for launching it, the threat actor location and also how to take down that threat actor, with the support of your local law enforcement. In today’s cyber security landscape, it isn't possible to prevent every attacks. Today’s attackers have significant funding, are patient, sophisticated, and target vulnerabilities in people and processes as well as technologies. With organizations increasingly relying on digitized information and sharing vast amounts of data across the globe, they have become easier targets for many different forms of attack. As a result, every company’s day-to-day operations, data and intellectual property are seriously at risk. In a corporate context, a cyber attack can not only damage your brand and reputation, it can also result in loss of competitive advantage, create legal/regulatory noncompliance and cause steep financial damage. Today’s secure environment will have vulnerabilities in it tomorrow, so an organization cannot allow itself to become complacent. There is only so much an organization can do by defending itself against threats that have already occurred. If an organization only reacts to new threats as they come up, are likely acting too late. It is important to understand and prioritize cyber threat intelligence processes, and how they can be integrated into an organization’s security operations in a way that adds value. Cyber threat intelligence (CTI) is an advanced process enabling organizations to gather valuable insights based on analysis of contextual and situational risks. These processes can be tailored to the organization’s specific threat landscape, industry and market. This intelligence can make a significant difference to organizations' abilities to anticipate breaches before they occur. Giving organizations the ability to respond quickly, decisively and effectively to confirmed breaches allows them to proactively maneuver defense mechanisms into place, prior to and during the attack. In this course, we’ll introduce you to the 8 phases of threat intelligence: Hunting- The goal of hunting is to establish techniques to collect samples from different sources that help to start profiling malicious threat actors.Features Extraction- The goal of Features Extraction is to identify unique Static features in the binaries that help to classify them into a specific malicious group.Behavior Extraction- The goal of Behavior Extraction is to identify unique Dynamic features in the binaries that help to classify them into a specific malicious group.Clustering and Correlation- The goal of Clustering and Correlation is to classify malware based on Features and Behavior extracted and correlate the information to understand the attack flow.Threat Actor Attribution- The goal of Threat Actors is to locate the threat actors behind the malicious clusters identified.Tracking- The goal of tracking is to anticipate new attacks and identify new variants proactively.Taking Down- The goal of Taking down is to Dismantled Organized Crime Operations.

ABOUT THE COURSE: As we interact with various industry and their needs for cyber security, they often complain that the courses at academic institutions provide students with the fundamentals of cyber security, but the students are often not familiar with the practical issues associated with running a cyber security operation in a real organization. Also, while a lot of the theses at master’s level or dissertation at the PhD level are based on theoretical exploration of techniques, algorithms, or mathematical modeling of cyber security problems, there is a dearth of dissertation and thesis on the practical aspects of running cyber security operations. Having worked very closely with industry, we appreciate such concerns because there are very interesting problems to be solved for practical cyber security which also requires a great deal of fundamental thinking, reasoning, and concerns about human cognition of the inputs the operators and leaders receive from cyber security tools, dashboards, policy formulations but then in the crowd of details, fundamentals are lost, reasoning is replaced by ad hoc decisions. To change that, we need workforce, as well as academics who can abstract out the fundamentals from such practical problems are develop various practically oriented methods, methodologies, policy frameworks, and decision processes which would simplify cyber operations. This course is meant to be a first step towards that line of thinking, modeling, and methodology development.INTENDED AUDIENCE: 3rd,4th year students of Computer Science and post graduate students of Computer Science, Cyber Security and Working ProfessionalsPREREQUISITES: A previous course on fundamentals of Cyber Security is desirable, if not, courses in Operating System, Networking, Software Engineering, and Programming will be desirable

This includes examining the types of threat that cyber security must address, as well as the range of mechanisms, both technological and procedural, that can be deployed. The role of cryptography in providing security is explored, including how algorithms and keys play their part in enabling cyber security. The key supporting function played by key management is identified, including why the use of cryptographic functions depends on it. The need for security management in an organisation is explained, and its main elements are introduced - including the key role played by risk management. The importance of standardised approaches to security management is explained, as is the notion of compliance.

This economics course provides an introduction to the field of cybersecurity through the lens of economic principles. Delivered by four leading research teams, it will provide you with the economic concepts, measurement approaches and data analytics to make better security and IT decisions, as well as understand the forces that shape the security decisions of other actors in the ecosystem of information goods and services. Systems often fail because the organizations that defend them do not bear the full costs of failure. In order to solve the problems of growing vulnerability to computer hackers and increasing crime, solutions must coherently allocate responsibilities and liabilities so that the parties in a position to fix problems have an incentive to do so. This requires a technical comprehension of security threats combined with an economic perspective to uncover the strategies employed by cyber hackers, attackers and defenders. The course covers five main areas: Introduction to key concepts in security economics. Here, we provide an overview of how information security is shaped by economic mechanisms, such as misaligned incentives, information asymmetry, and externalities. Measuring cybersecurity. We introduce state of the art security and IT metrics and conceptualize the characteristics of a security metric, its challenges and advantages. Economics of information security investment. We discuss and apply different economic models that help determine the costs and benefits of security investments in network security. Security market failures. We discuss market failures that may lead to cybersecurity investment levels that are insufficient from society’s perspective and other forms of unsafe behaviour in cyber space. Behavioural economics for information security, policy and regulation. We discuss available economic tools to better align the incentives for cybersecurity, including better security metrics, cyber insurance/risk transfer, information sharing, and liability assignment. After finishing this course, you will be able to apply economic analysis and data analytics to cybersecurity. You will understand the role played by incentives on the adoption and effectiveness of security mechanisms, and on the design of technical, market-based, and regulatory solutions to different security threats.

It is also referred to as information technology security. With cyber attacks evolving today as a danger to organizations, employees and customers, cyber security plays a very crucial role in prevention against such security threats. As we have entered into this new decade, we can already see new challenges arising in cyber security since day one! It is no surprise to see that cyber security is constantly on a rise and there is a lot in store for the near future. Today, companies have become more technologically reliant than ever and the trend doesn’t seem to stop. Rather, it looks like this technological reliance will keep evolving in the long term.Almost every organization nowadays, uses cloud storage services like Dropbox or Google Drive to store their confidential data and sensitive information. If not taken proper online security measures, this data present online can easily be exploited by cyber criminals.
