The Nursing Assistant Fundamentals specialization prepares students for a successful Nursing Assistant career in diverse healthcare settings, emphasizing patient care assistance, health care setting navigation, effective communication in healthcare, hygiene and safety protocols, and patient mobility and comfort. IMPORTANT: This specialization is not designed to prepare students for national certification. Enrollees will gain the foundational/fundamental knowledge on subject matter relevant to the profession. However, to gain industry certification, a more comprehensive program must be completed through enrollment via approved/eligible schools such as MedCerts.

This course focuses on the knowledge of aging and care systems for the elderly, health assessment for the elderly, daily care for the elderly, mental health and mental care, medication safety and nursing, common health problems and care during sickness, hospice care, etc. The lecturer provides meticulous, lively and systematic teaching, combined with case-based teaching and the latest development in elderly care in China as well as globally, to present learners with the knowledge and skills of caring for the elderly. "Rehabilitation Nursing" is a career development course of higher vocational nursing major, which is an integrated course of science and practice. It requires students to master the rehabilitation nursing evaluation and technology of the disabled, the elderly and people with common chronic diseases. The total credit hours of the course is 32 credit hours, including the basic theory of rehabilitation nursing, rehabilitation nursing evaluation, rehabilitation nursing technology and rehabilitation nursing for common diseases. The purpose of the course is to promote students to master the rehabilitation nursing evaluation, operation technology and health guidance of stroke, craniocerebral injury, cervical spondylosis, senile dementia and other diseases, so as to improve the quality of life of patients.

Geriatric Nursing is targeted at third-year undergraduate students majoring in nursing in full-time programs, with an annual enrollment of 1500 to 2000 students in China. Based on the core and key content of geriatric nursing and incorporating the unique advantages of traditional Chinese medicine institutions, this course is divided into four major parts: General Introduction (primarily introducing important concepts, backgrounds, physical and mental assessments of the elderly, and medication nursing characteristics related to geriatric nursing), Nursing Care for Common Health Problems in the Elderly (focusing on the most clinically common health issues in the elderly such as falls, frailty, wasting-malnutrition, presbyacusis, and senile constipation), Nursing Care for Common Diseases in the Elderly (focusing on diseases specific to the elderly such as degenerative osteoarthritis, Alzheimer's disease, and gastroesophageal reflux disease in the elderly), and Common Traditional Chinese Medicine Nursing Techniques for the Elderly.
