DOE Required Qualifications:
Alaska Type B Administrative Certificate and an Alaska Type A Teaching Certificate, Special Education endorsement preferred. Certification in Alaska Reads Act, The Science of Reading, required. Knowledge and background in special education classrooms, rules, regulations, and procedures.
Preferred Qualifications:
Three (3) years administrative experience at similar and comparable secondary school preferred. Knowledge and background in elementary and secondary school curriculum, student attendance, management and discipline skills. Applicant should be able to oversee student activities and discipline.
Matsu Day School Information:
Matsu Day School is located at 2350 N Tait Drive, Wasilla, Alaska , with a projected enrollment of about 34 stu dents. It is a K-12 special mission school providing educational and support services for students, helping students develop and use leadership skills, confidence, curiosity, and personal planning for lifelong success. The Principal will be required to collaborate with other community behavioral health agencies.
Matsu Day School is seeking:
An administrator who can demonstrate the highest level of knowledge, skills, abilities, and commitments in the following administrative standards: Provides leadership and guides instruction to support an effective learning environment Coordinates services which support growth and development Promotes staff professional growth through facilitating cooperative lesson planning and reflection on common assessments Displays the highest ethical and professional behavior and standards when working with students, parents and school personnel Uses assessment and evaluation information to make decisions and to implement curriculum Effectively communicates with diverse groups and individuals Acts in accordance with established laws, policies, procedures, and good business practices Fosters positive community relations while facilitating parent involvement Establishes and promotes high standards and expectations for all students and staff for academic performance and responsibility for behavior Demonstrates an understanding of the use of data to inform instructional practices
