POSITION
1:1 Nurse
LOCATION
Currituck County High School
START DATE
August 10, 2026
PRIMARY DUTY:
To provide 1:1 support for a student with medical needs.
EDUCATION AND TRAINING REQUIRED
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills Positive role model both professionally and personally Completion of training necessary for licensing as a registered nurse Experience in pediatrics and/or public health nursing preferred This employee must be certified by the National Association of School Nurses (NASN)
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Current license as a registered nurse in the United States Completion of a practice requirement in school nursing Considerable knowledge of medical disorders and treatment, child growth and development Working knowledge of public health problems and procedures for treatment in coordination with other health and social service agencies Working knowledge of Federal, State, and Local laws and regulations affecting the delivery of school health services Some knowledge of the school organization and the community served Ability to identify abnormal growth and development and symptoms of disease Ability to coordinate and facilitate services between the school, local health agency, and other community resources Ability to develop and maintain health records on students and positive working relationships
