Job Summary:
Under general supervision, the 1st Assistant Golf Professional is responsible for the effective operation of the golf club house and management of mini-golf and tennis. Responsibilities include opening and closing the pro shop, completing various reporting functions, providing effective customer service, and arranging individual, group, and tournament tee times. Instructs golf lessons to individuals and groups as requested.Description:
Supervises, directs, and evaluates assigned staff; including hiring, training, coaching, and terminating. Performs opening and closing of golf pro shop, operates POS and reconciles cash register, prepares and makes deposits, completes daily reports, logs in player information, and provides basic pro shop security. Provides general information to customers relating to tee times, upcoming tournaments, etc.; directs callers to appropriate destination as needed. Coordinates with golf groups, hotel sales managers, ensures a positive guest experience. Enforces Authority rules and regulations, and rules that govern the use of the golf course, golf carts, and golf facilities by members and guests. Works with other golf professionals, including superintendent, rangers, starters, cart attendants, etc., to ensure smooth operation of the golf course and driving range. Assists with pro shop merchandising and inventory management as delegated by Director of Golf. Records individual and group tournament schedules, including precise daily, weekly, and monthly dates and times, makes necessary copies, sends confirmation to appropriate individuals and files. Coordinates and oversees junior golf camp programs, and other teaching opportunities for all ages. Schedules, organizes and scores tournaments and arranges a one year in advance maintenance schedule with Director of Golf Course Maintenance and golf course superintendent. Instructs individual and group lessons as requested. Performs club repair and personalized club fitting as requested. Assists with the preparation of work schedules for Assistant Professionals and other staff as directed. Provides monthly activity reports to the Director of Golf and Head Professional. Promotes and participates in training activities to optimize customer service skills of staff. Performs other duties as assigned.Qualifications:

Assistant Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent required. PGA Class A Membership OR Active apprenticeship in the PGA Professional Golf Management (PGA PGM) Program, minimum of Level 2 completed, not to exceed three (3) years to obtain PGA Class A Membership. Minimum of three (3) years experience with extensive knowledge of golf fundamentals In addition to PGA requirement, may consider any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this position. 2ndAssistant Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent required. Application for apprenticeship in PGA Professional Golf Management Program (PGA PGM) within six (6) months of hire, complete education and curriculum set forth by the PGA of America to stay in good standing and achieve Class "A" membership within a reasonable timeframe, not to exceed three (3) years to complete all levels. Minimum one (1) year golf experience with knowledge of golf fundamentals. In addition to PGA requirement, may consider any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that provides the requisite knowledge, skills and abilities for this position. The 2nd Assistant is a training position and may be assigned tasks that teach the required requisites of the 1st Assistant role.Additional:
Must have solid customer service experience with a desire to make the golf experience exceptional for customers. Must possess computer knowledge including Word, Excel, Outlook, and knowledge of POS systems. Flexible availability required including weekends, holidays, and some early evenings. Regular and predictable attendance and punctuality is required.Physical Requirements/Working Conditions:
Exert up to 35 pounds of force occasionally and negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. More than 50% of the typical workday will be spent standing, walking and twisting as well as repetitive motions of the wrists, hands and fingers. Between 25% and 50% of the typical workday may be spent climbing stairs, pushing and pulling. Less than 25% of the typical day is spent balancing, stooping and/or crouching, kneeling, reaching. Sensory abilities required are feeling, grasping and touching with more than 50% of the time spent talking and hearing. Visual abilities to perform tasks required are preparing and analyzing data and figures, transcribing, use of the computer, and expansive reading. Work is conducted within an inside, retail pro shop setting and outside with exposure to extreme heat, high humidity and occasionally adverse weather conditions as well occasional extreme cold. Will be exposed to hazards such as moving mechanical parts and moving vehicles. May be subject to atmospheric conditions such as fumes, oils, odors, dusts, mists, or poor ventilation. May be subject to close quarters, such as narrow aisles or passageways/hallways. Noise levels are generally considered normal.
