Responsibilities Conduct thorough patient assessments, including vital signs, physical examinations, and medical history documentation using EMR (Electronic Medical Record) systems such as Epic or Cerner. Administer medications, injections, and IV infusions following strict protocols to ensure safety and efficacy. Assist with medical procedures such as catheterization, tube feeding, suturing, and specimen collection/processing while maintaining aseptic techniques. Manage airway care, ventilator support, and monitor patients with complex needs like ICU or trauma cases within Level I or Level II trauma centers. Coordinate discharge planning, case management, and follow-up care for patients in outpatient, inpatient, or home & community settings. Document all patient interactions accurately in medical records adhering to HIPAA regulations and coding standards including ICD-9/10 and CPT coding. Collaborate with physicians and specialists in areas such as cardiology, neurology, geriatrics, pediatrics, or behavioral health to develop personalized care plans. Requirements Proven experience working in diverse healthcare environments such as hospitals (including ICU, emergency room, trauma centers), nursing homes, assisted living facilities, or home care settings. Strong knowledge of medical terminology, physiology, anatomy, and diagnostic evaluation techniques. Hands-on experience with EMR/EHR systems like Epic, Cerner, Athenahealth or eClinicalWorks for accurate documentation. Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) and relevant licensure for practicing healthcare professionals. Demonstrated ability to perform venipuncture, phlebotomy, injection administration, catheter care, and sterile processing procedures. Critical care experience including ICU or emergency medicine is highly desirable; experience with infectious disease care or hospice is a plus. Excellent patient assessment skills with the ability to work effectively with individuals of all ages—including pediatrics and neonatal ventilator management—and those with disabilities or cognitive impairments such as Alzheimer's or dementia. Knowledge of ICD coding (ICD-9/10), CPT coding for procedures and treatments; familiarity with medical imaging and laboratory processes is advantageous.
