Job Description

Job Overview We are seeking a dynamic and passionate 5-12 Band Teacher to inspire and educate students across middle school and high school grades. In this role, you will deliver engaging music instruction tailored to diverse learning needs, foster a love for the arts, and support students' overall development. Your energetic approach will motivate students to explore their musical talents while integrating innovative teaching methods and learning technology. As a key member of our educational community, you will promote a positive classroom environment, encourage creativity, and nurture each student's growth in music and beyond. Responsibilities Develop and implement comprehensive lesson plans aligned with curriculum standards for grades 5 through 12, covering various musical genres and techniques. Deliver engaging instruction in instrumental and vocal music, incorporating creative writing, public speaking, and performance skills. Utilize diverse teaching tools including learning technology to enhance student engagement and understanding of music theory. Assess student progress through performance evaluations, and formative assessments; provide constructive feedback to support improvement. Manage classroom behavior effectively through behavior management strategies and classroom management techniques to create a safe and productive learning environment. Mentor students in extracurricular activities such as choir, band, or orchestra; support their participation in competitions or performances. Collaborate with colleagues on curriculum development, lesson planning, and integrating special education or Montessori methods where appropriate. Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding student progress; offer academic advising and support for childhood development goals. Contribute to school events by coaching sports or organizing community outreach programs that promote teamwork and leadership skills. Maintain accurate records of attendance, grades, and performance assessments; ensure compliance with school policies and educational standards. Experience Prior classroom experience teaching middle school and high school students students in a formal educational setting is a plus. Experience working with children of diverse backgrounds. Proven ability to develop curriculum that integrates learning technology effectively. Strong mentoring skills with a background in classroom management, behavior management, public speaking, and academic advising are essential. Knowledge of library services or educational administration practices will be considered a plus. From $50,200.00 per year
