August 1, 2026 (2026/2027 School Year) Position Summary North Park School District is seeking a dedicated special education paraprofessional. The Special Education Paraprofessional supports students in achieving academic, social, and behavioral success. Working under the direction of a certified teacher, this position assists with instructional activities, classroom management, and individualized student needs. Key Responsibilities Assist and guide students, based on individual student needs, to reinforce essential skills especially, but not limited to reading, math, language usage, and social skills as directed. Work with students individually and in small groups to reinforce essential skills and implement assigned programs Assist with record-keeping procedures to document student learning and performance as directed Assist with classroom behavioral management to minimize disruptions, ensure a safe and orderly classroom, and ensure students are on task as directed Assist students in non-instructional areas, such as supervising the student lunch programs, recess, bus duty, study hall, and other related non-instructional areas as needed Accompany students on field trips for the purpose of assisting with supervision Construct, copy, distribute, and use educational materials as needed Assist students with special needs in all aspects of classroom instruction to maximize inclusion, learning, achievement if IEP objectives, etc. Participate in the IEP process and serves as a resource for the student personnel evaluation team as needed Assist students with physical or mental disabilities with activities of daily living for the purpose of maximizing their ability to participate in school or learning activities Follow all applicable safety rules, procedures, and regulations governing the proper manner of assistance for all students, including those with disabilities or other special needs. QualificationsEducation:
Any combination of education and experience providing the required skill and knowledge for successful performance would be qualifying. Typical qualifications would be equivalent to High School diploma or equivalent AND Two years of higher education or an associates degree OR successful completion of the Work Keys Assessment Prior experience working with special needs children is desirableLicense:
Substitute License required.Training:
CPI(crisis prevention) and mandatory reporter certification required. Other training for specific instructional and behavioral programs may be required Compensation & Benefits Hourly pay based on experience and district salary schedule Professional development opportunities Paraprofessional agreement is based on a 160 day schedule, August through May.
