Job Description

The 7-12 Special Education Teacher provides individualized instruction and support to students in grades 7-12. This position collaborates with general education teachers, families, and support staff to develop and implement instructional programs that help students achieve academic, behavioral, social, and emotional success. Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) in compliance with state and federal guidelines. Provide direct instruction to students in individual, small group, and classroom settings. Adapt curriculum, assignments, and assessments to meet diverse student needs. Collaborate with general education teachers to support inclusion and accommodations within the classroom. Maintain accurate student records, progress monitoring data, and documentation required for compliance. Participate in IEP meetings, multidisciplinary team meetings, and parent conferences. Communicate regularly with parents/guardians regarding student progress and needs. Utilize evidence-based instructional strategies and behavioral interventions. Support students with academic, behavioral, social-emotional, and transition needs. Assist students in developing independent living, self-advocacy, and post-secondary readiness skills. Maintain a positive, safe, and structured learning environment. Supervise paraprofessionals and coordinate instructional support as needed. Collaborate with counselors, administrators, AEA staff, and related service providers. Participate in professional development and district initiatives. Perform other duties as assigned by administration.
