Job Summary:
The 7th Grade Math Teacher delivers effective math instruction, supports student learning, collaborates with colleagues, and fosters a positive classroom environment through strong instructional and classroom management practices.
Qualifications Required:
Current Michigan Teaching CertificateEndorsement:
EXEstablished record of positive attitude and rapport with studentsDemonstrate effective lesson design and instructional techniquesExcellent interpersonal skillsCollaborative/Growth orientatedKnowledge in the use of formative and summative assessment data to inform instructionDemonstrated knowledge and experience in the use of technology to support instruction and enhance student achievementAbility to work effectively with colleagues regarding curriculum, instruction, interventions, and assessmentWillingness to learn new skills, to be reflective, and to acquire new knowledge along with evidence of being flexible and having superior problem solving skillsEvidence of being highly organized and having excellent time-management skills
Qualifications Desired:
Possess innovative teaching techniques to work with at-risk and special needs studentsWorking knowledge of Common Core State Standards in MathematicsExperience with Savvas program and its featuresExperience working in collaborative teams or in a Professional Learning CommunityDemonstrate effective classroom management skillsKnowledge of implementing PBIS initiatives in the classroomStrength in utilizing innovative teaching strategiesPossess a flexible, creative, energetic personalityPossess up-to-date instructional technology knowledge and skillProven leadership qualities such as being a member of a school improvement team, a member of a curriculum council, a chair of a student organization, or the chair of a grade level or departmentCertification in additional subject areas
Job Description:
Responsible for teaching mathematics in a middle schoolEstablish and communicate clear objectives for all learning activitiesWork with colleagues regarding content, assessment, and instructionDevelop lesson plans and instructional materials and adapt the curriculum to the needs of each pupilEstablish and maintain standards of pupil behavior to achieve an effective learning community both inside and outside the classroom
Physical Requirements and Work Environment:
This position requires long periods of standing, sitting, and walking. The position requires occasional lifting of supplies and/or movement of classroom furnishings during the course of the school day.

Work takes place both indoors and outdoors, with some travel to other schools or field trip locations.
Work Year & Salary:
Per the MDMEA bargaining unit agreement
Benefits:
Medical, dental, vision, life, long-term disability and paid time off per the bargaining unit contract
