Job Description

Full Time School-Based Occupational Therapist
  • New grads welcome Star Academy, a non-profit, non-public school, located in San Rafael, CA, serving students with learning differences in grades 3-post-secondary, is seeking a Full-Time, Occupational Therapist for Fall 2026 .
We are seeking a patient, kind, and thoughtful clinician to provide occupational therapy to students with motor and sensory difficulties that impact their ability to access the curriculum. Star Academy is a highly collaborative environment, and we are seeking a team player who can work effectively with other specialists and classroom teachers. New grads, with school-based and/or pediatric experience are encouraged to apply. Star provides a strong mentoring program and an OT department with two highly experienced occupational therapists to help integrate a new practitioner. Star Academy's mission is to help Special Education students with complex learning differences experience academic success through a multisensory approach. Star Academy offers small class sizes, a team of highly trained teachers and specialists and a very supportive administration . Excellent benefits including tuition reimbursement, loan repayment and professional development funds. Candidates must have the following qualifications:
  • Hold a valid California license in Occupational Therapy and a minimum of 1 year of prior experience (clinical internship experience is accepted), preferably in a school-based and/or pediatric setting.
Desired Skills:
  • Experience working with students with learning differences, social
  • cognitive challenges and executive function deficits in grades 1-12
  • Knowledge of current evidenced based practices in Occupational Therapy
  • Extensive knowledge of assessment tools and report writing
  • Experience facilitating OT groups
  • Experience with individual, small group and classroom-based service delivery models
  • Experience being part of an Individual Education Plan (IEP) team and familiarity with IEP procedures including goal writing, updating and presenting at IEP meetings.
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong record keeping and organizational skills Annual assignments are 202 days, 198 of which are teaching/student days.
