Academic Coach Job Description Our Mission:
The Study Hall is an after-school and summer program that serves K-5th grade children in the greater Peoplestown community offering an educational and enrichment curriculum that equips children to achieve sustained personal and academic success. Role of an
Academic Coach:
In addition to acting as an educator, motivator, and mentor, you must display professionalism and compassion for all scholars, team members, families, visitors, etc. at all times. During the school year, the Academic Coach is also responsible for managing a class of 15 same grade scholars, facilitate academic and culturally enriching programs, operates a school bus on assigned route as well as, work with the Executive Director and Program Manager to create and implement strategies of achievement for all scholars.
Desired Qualifications:
Must have minimum 2 years' experience working with youth. (Inner City Youth preferred) An Undergraduate Degree in Education, Early-Childhood Education or related field is preferred, though students currently enrolled in such programs are encouraged to apply as well. Must possess a driver's license and submit to a criminal background check. Must be a leader among your peers, work well with others, and enjoy working with youth.
Responsibilities:
Must be Mission Driven and Scholar Focused! Exhibit enthusiasm for all scholars, learning, and the program. Manage classroom environment such as rules & expectations and communicate lessons effectively to scholars. Create classroom activities conducive to the strengthening of scholars academic and social skills. Manage scholar progress reports and assessments as required and academic learning folders. Aid scholars in the daily completion of classroom assignments and projects either whole group or individual. Establish and maintain cooperative relationships with scholars, other staff, public school teachers, parents, and management team. Share responsibility of supervision of all scholars in joint areas of the TSH campus such as outside time and during meals. Aid in the transportation of scholars by driving the TSH vehicle as scheduled. Keep confidential the records and information regarding scholars, parents, and teachers. Engage in physical fitness and wellness activities with scholars and facilitate enrichment club based upon own area of interest. Be willing and able to assist scholars in the pool during swim lessons, held twice a week. Complete other duties as assigned by Executive Director and/or Program Director. Be positive, self-motivated, and have fun! Salary & Benefits The start time for Academic Coach positions range from 1:00pm-3:30pm Monday-Friday during the school year and 7:00am during summer camp, based upon role and assigned location. Candidate availability will be discussed as a part of the pre-screen process.
