Job Description
The Academic Support and Launch Manager leads an innovative and growing after-school program for middle and high school students, managing staff, coordinating activities, and fostering a positive learning environment. This role requires strong leadership, communication, and program management skills to ensure alignment with The Space's mission. The Academic Support and Launch Manager networks with local high schools and community organizations, communicates with school personnel, students and families, and ensures a positive engagement for tutors, students and parents. The manager supports staff development, and oversees program evaluation to enhance student engagement, well-being and success. In addition to administrative and leadership tasks, managers at The Space are also expected to work directly with students. Candidates must have confidence with high school subject areas and enjoy working with students ages 11-19. All program staff must have a genuine interest in the growth, development, and provision of a safe and nurturing environment for the students they teach. Classroom teaching experience is a plus. Fluency in Spanish is a plus and appreciated but not necessary. August•June, During school year•Monday, Tuesday, Thursday 2:00-7:00pm, Wednesday 1:00pm-7:00pm required, flexible for remaining hours; option to increase time to include summer Duties and Responsibilities Program Implementation and Management (60%) Lead and manage daily program operations, ensuring alignment with The Space's mission and values; Oversee staff working with middle and high school students, serving as the primary point of contact and support; Support staff and students in areas such as behavior response, mental health crises, and parent communication; Lead daily staff meetings to ensure efficient program delivery and team alignment; Manage program staff schedules; Support the parent and student intake process in collaboration with the Program Intake Coordinator; Support creation and/or refinement of program goals and descriptions; Implement evaluation projects and oversee data collection relevant to Academic Support and Launch; Maintain program databases; Track and monitor the program's budget and financial performance; Ensure compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements; Work with students individually or in small groups to learn or review academic concepts and develop study skills; Program Design and Oversight (20%) Collaborate with school staff to identify and network support for students; Communicate regularly with parents, students and partner organizations; Facilitate communication on activities, student needs, and program goals; Leadership and Organizational Growth (20%) Collaborate with leadership staff to support operational effectiveness in alignment with mission and vision of The Space; Produce data and reports to share program outcomes with multiple stakeholders; Support fundraising and grant-seeking activities; Support the recruitment, onboarding, professional development, and performance management of staff and volunteers within the program; Support the compliance of policies and processes within the organization; Collaborate across teams within and outside of the organization to facilitate program implementation and impact; The Ideal Candidate Is available to work Monday through Thursday into the evening; Creative problem solver with a passion for youth success and community-building; Believes that all students matter and actively supports and encourages self-confidence and personal growth; Experience working with adolescent youth; Strong project management skills, particularly in youth-related work; Strategic thinker that anticipates challenges, generates innovative solutions, and optimizes systems; Comfortable, adaptable and effective with the demands of busy programs; Utilizes clear and effective interpersonal and written communication to engage and inspire others in alignment with The Space's messaging guidelines; Experience working in or leading a diverse team and fostering an inclusive environment; Proficiency of basic computer programs; Bachelor's degree or 2+ years of experience leading or organizing programs Bilingual preferred, but not required; Requirements and Qualifications Must be able to work Monday through Thursday after school hours into the evening; Experience working with youth ages 11-21; Ability to work well with a team to promote company initiatives; Energetic team player who works well in a collaborative environment; Excellent organizational skills and problem-solving abilities; Ability to prioritize and manage several milestones and projects efficiently; Strong communication skills with an orientation to customer service; Ability to generate interest in the company or program and network with partners; Bachelor's degree, or 4 years of experience working with youth and leading teams; Proficiency of high school content, especially math; Bilingual preferred, but not required.
