Under the direct supervision of the Senior Accounting Officer (Supervisor), the Accountant I (Specialist) performs semi-professional accounting duties in support of VR services accounts payable and field fiscal operations. The position is responsible for auditing and processing VR Services vendor invoices, checks and cash disbursements, handling deposits and petty cash, and maintaining accurate accounting records using
AWARE, FI
$Cal, and the WEX CalDOR Payment Card (CPC) Administrative Portal. Duties are performed in accordance with Department of Rehabilitation (DOR) fiscal policies and procedures, State Administrative Manual (SAM), Rehabilitation Administrative Manual (RAM), Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), internal control standards, and applicable federal and state fiscal requirements. DOR offers a hybrid telework schedule with a combination of remote and in-office work schedules for CA residents only. The telework policy is subject to change, and additional in-office days may be required and/or minimal notification may be given to report to the worksite if an urgent need arises. Telework agreements can be modified and/or cancelled at any time. Multiple vacancies may exist. Working Conditions The majority of the work will take place in one of the following locations with consumers, the public, colleagues, and other stakeholders: a DOR open office setting in a cubicle environment, offsite in the community, at events and various partner locations, and/or at an approved alternate work location. The incumbent must have the ability to work in an office setting for up to 40 hours per week and remain at a workstation for extended periods while utilizing a personal computer, peripherals, and other office equipment with or without accommodation. The incumbent will be working in an office setting with both natural and artificial lighting.
