Controller /
Accounting Manager Location:
Oakmont, PA Reports to:
CEO The Role:
A Leader Who Owns the Ledger and Supports the Floor We aren't looking for a corporate supervisor to sit in a glass office and review high-level spreadsheets. We are looking for a technical, hands-on Accounting Manager who has spent their career in the "engine room" of accounting, someone who loves the clean logic of a perfectly balanced ledger and the energy of a manufacturing environment. You are the right fit if you have personally reconciled complex AP/AR, managed multi-state sales tax, untangled sub-ledger discrepancies, and lived through the intensity of a manufacturing month-end close. You aren't just a reviewer; you are a teacher and a troubleshooter who can jump into any seat in the department to model best practices, clean up accounts, and fix broken transactional processes. As the Accounting Manager, you report directly to the CEO and serve as the primary financial voice for our three US manufacturing facilities. You are responsible for the total integrity of our financial data, the efficiency of our general accounting team, and the accuracy of our financial reporting. Your mandate is to maintain a "boots-on-the-ground" presence while managing the full accounting lifecycle—from transactional accuracy to month-end reporting. What You'll Do (The "Doer" Phase) Own the
Close & Reporting:
Lead the full month-end close process. Ensure all journal entries, accruals, and adjustments are accurate and completed on a tight, predictable schedule. Lead the
Ledger:
Stay grounded in the fundamentals. Own the general ledger and supervise the day-to-day operations of AP/AR, cash application, bank reconciliations, and payroll interface.
Guard Financial Integrity:
Implement and maintain robust internal controls. Audit transactional workflows to ensure inventory movements, sales reporting, and purchasing are hitting the ledger correctly. Support the
Plant Floor:
Move beyond the spreadsheets. Spend time on the plant floor partnering with Plant Managers to ensure production data, scrap logging, and basic inventory counts translate cleanly into financial realities.
Analyze & Optimize Cash Flow:
Manage working capital tightly by keeping a close eye on aging AR, vendor payment terms, and cash reconciliations to optimize company cash flow.
The Ideal Profile:
Your Progression Matters We believe the best accounting leaders are built, not born. We are specifically looking for someone who has followed a progression similar to this:
The Foundation:
Started as a Staff Accountant or AP/AR Lead in a manufacturing setting, learning how transactions flow from the receiving dock to the general ledger.
The Core:
Moved into a Senior Accountant role where you "owned" the month-end close, balance sheet reconciliations, trial balances, and financial statement preparation.
The Leadership:
Stepped into a Supervisor or Lead Accountant role in a small-to-medium business environment, managing a lean team and proving you can delegate without losing your technical edge.
Non-Negotiable Requirements Manufacturing Environment:
Minimum of 5-7 years of progressive general accounting experience strictly within a manufacturing, distribution, or production environment. You understand how physical inventory flows impact financial statements.
General Accounting Mastery:
Deep expertise in GAAP, balance sheet reconciliations, general ledger management, and financial statement preparation.
Tactical Execution:
You must be genuinely willing to "do the work" (reconciliations, data entry, troubleshooting systems) while simultaneously leading and developing your team.
ERP Savvy:
Strong experience utilizing and troubleshooting ERP accounting modules to ensure smooth data flow from operations to accounting.
Mentorship:
A proven ability to coach junior staff, documenting processes and teaching them how to improve accuracy and efficiency.
Benefits:
401(k) 401(k) 4% Match 401(k) matching Dental insurance Employee discount Health insurance Life insurance Paid time off
Work Location:
In person
