Accounting Specialist

Overview We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Accounting Specialist to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in corporate accounting and financial management, with expertise in payroll processing, financial reporting, and regulatory compliance. This role requires a proactive leader who can mentor junior staff, manage complex accounting tasks, and ensure the integrity of our financial processes. Fluency in Microsoft Excel and Quickbooks is required. Responsibilities Oversee the preparation and analysis of financial statements in accordance with GAAP. Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable functions to ensure timely processing and accuracy. Conduct balance sheet reconciliation, account reconciliation, and journal entries. Ensure compliance with SOX regulations and other relevant securities laws. Provide guidance on non-profit accounting practices and governmental accounting standards. Prepare financial reports for management, including cash flow analysis and budgeting forecasts. Mentor and train accounting staff on technical accounting principles and software applications. Utilize accounting software such as QuickBooks, Quicken, PeopleSoft, Sage, or Xero for efficient financial management. Conduct audits to ensure accuracy in financial reporting and adherence to internal controls. Collaborate with other departments to support corporate finance initiatives and private equity projects. Experience Proven experience in corporate accounting or public accounting roles. Strong knowledge of financial concepts including accrual accounting, double entry bookkeeping, and financial analysis. Familiarity with tax experience related to wills, trusts & estate law is a plus. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel for data analysis and reporting purposes. Experience with financial software tools that enhance productivity in financial management tasks. Demonstrated ability to interpret complex financial reports and provide actionable insights.
