Job Description

This is a confidential, retained search for a company in Peoria, IL.
Purpose:
The General Accountant is responsible for recording daily financial transactions, updating QuickBooks and preparing reports for review by outside accountants. They maintain and file appropriate records for tax filing and compliance. Monitors cash flow and produce financial reports to assist leadership in making strategic decisions. Will assist in generating payroll and, generating invoices and/or accounts payable/receivable.
Essential Functions:

  • Maintain all financial records accurately or review by leadership and external accountant.
  • Follow GAAP procedures and alert leadership of deviations.
  • Ensure all invoices, receivables and payables are recorded and processed in a timely manner.
  • Assist external accounting firm with requested process and/or reporting.
General Responsibilities:
Manage daily accounting operations, including data entry, journal entries, and account analysis. Perform balance sheet reconciliation and account reconciliation to ensure accuracy of financial data. Oversee accounts payable and accounts receivable processes, ensuring timely payments and collections. Prepare and review financial statements in accordance with GAAP and company policies. Utilize QuickBooks to process transactions efficiently. Assist with budget preparation, expense tracking, and financial analysis to support strategic decision-making. Ensure compliance with internal controls. Support internal audits and external regulatory audits by providing necessary documentation. Stay updated on relevant accounting standards that impact the business. Assist in preparation of payroll and tax filings.
Qualifications:
  • A Bachelor's degree in business, accounting, finance or related field.
  • At least two (2) years of financial reporting experience.
  • Strong administrative, organizational, and customer service skills.
  • Solid communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to process computer data and format/generate reports.
  • Exemplary problem-solving, analytical skills and relationship management.
  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills such as PowerPoint, Publisher, Excel, and Word
  • Experience/training in QuickBooks accounting, invoicing and payroll functions.

Pay:
$75,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
