We are looking for the right fit to ensure continuation of our finance team following a planned retirement. The ideal candidate has a desire to learn about the complexities of school finance and grow their responsibilities as content knowledge grows. The primary job goal of the Accounting Specialist is to ensure timely, effective, efficient, and accurate accounting of the district's systems and to provide general support to the Business Office.REPORTS TO
Superintendent of SchoolsQUALIFICATIONS
Education/Experience Associates or Bachelors degree in Finance or Accounting is preferred Work experience with general accounts payable, accounts receivable and/or related accounting work. Strong computer skills and familiarity with Excel and Google Suite Experiance in K-12 or public sector educational finance High moral character and good attendance record. Posses a high level of integrity, dependability, and strong analytical and critical thinking skills. Exceptional organizational skills and ability to handle multiple tasks and meet required deadlines. Polite, courteous and tactful with the public.POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
Maintain financial records in compliance with district, state and federal policies and regulations Prepare monthly financial reports for the district Support accounting and bookkeeping functions for multiple funds (cafeteria, Sinking, Capital Projects, Student Activity). Code and Record revenue accurately Reconcile district bank accounts Assist in the development and monitoring of district budgets Prepare grant related financial reports and process reimbursement claims Prepare and post journal entries as required Reconcile financial reports and ensure accuracy of data Assist auditors by preparing audit work and supporting documentation Other duties as assigned by SuperintendentKNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES REQUIRED
Microsoft Office applications and eFinance Experience preferred. Organized, dependable and willing to work independently with minimum supervision. Attention to detail, accuracy, and time management. Strong communication and interpersonal skills are required along with the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships. Must respect and maintain confidentiality.TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
Pay commensurate with education and experience 12 month employee, 260 day contract Comprehensive benefits package, including health, dental, and retirement plans.Position Type:
