Job Description

About Casago Smoky Mountains Casago Smoky Mountains is a vacation rental management company serving homeowners and guests across Gatlinburg, Pigeon Forge, Sevierville, and the surrounding Smokies. We manage a growing portfolio of cabins and short-term rental properties, and we pride ourselves on delivering exceptional experiences for our owners, guests, and team. As we grow, we're looking for a detail-oriented Accounting Specialist to support our finance and people operations. The Role The Accounting Specialist is the backbone of our day-to-day finance operations. You'll own accounts payable and receivable, support payroll processing, contribute to month-end close, and assist with financial reporting and audit preparation. You'll also partner with leadership on HR records and compliance to keep our employee files accurate and up to date. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys variety, takes ownership of their work, and wants to make a visible impact at a growing company. Key Responsibilities
    Accounts Payable & Receivable:
Process vendor invoices, schedule and execute payments, manage owner disbursements, post and reconcile guest receipts, and follow up on outstanding balances.
      Payroll:
Prepare and process bi-weekly payroll, maintain accurate employee pay records, and book related journal entries.
        General Ledger & Month-End Close:
Record journal entries, reconcile bank, credit card, and balance sheet accounts, and support a timely and accurate monthly close.
          Reporting & Audit Support:
Assist in preparing internal financial reports, owner statements, and supporting schedules for year-end audit and tax preparation.
            HR Records & Compliance:
Maintain employee files, complete I-9 verifications, track required documentation, and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment recordkeeping requirements.
              Process Improvement:
Identify opportunities to streamline accounting and HR workflows and help implement scalable practices as the business grows.
                Cross-functional Support:
Partner with property management, operations, and leadership on ad-hoc finance and people-operations needs.
                Qualifications Required:
                • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field — or equivalent hands-on experience.
                • 3+ years of full-cycle accounting experience (AP, AR, payroll, reconciliations, month-end close).
                • Proficiency in QuickBooks or comparable accounting software, and strong Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups, reconciling large data sets).
                • Working knowledge of payroll processing and basic HR recordkeeping requirements (I-9, employment files, confidentiality).
                • High attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to manage competing deadlines.
                • Discretion and professionalism handling confidential financial and employee information.
                • Comfort working with technology and AI tools to streamline accounting and administrative workflows, and willingness to adopt new systems as they're introduced.
                • Reliable on-site presence at our Smoky Mountains office.
                Preferred:
                • Experience in the vacation rental, hospitality, or property management industry.
                • Familiarity with property management systems (e.g., Guesty).
                • Exposure to multi-entity or trust accounting (owner trust funds).
                • Prior experience supporting an external audit or tax preparation cycle. What We Offer
