Accounts Receivable

We are looking for a personable Accounts Receivable specialist to join a busy utility billing team in Santa Barbara, California. This Contract position is ideal for someone who enjoys face-to-face customer interaction, stays composed in high-traffic settings, and can manage payment processing with accuracy. The role focuses on in-person billing support, account lookup, and cashiering duties while helping the department keep pace during a high-volume period. Candidates who are comfortable handling cash, using billing systems, and assisting customers with billing questions will be well suited for this opportunity.

Responsibilities:

• Welcome customers at the payment counter and assist with utility billing transactions in a courteous and efficient manner.
• Receive and process payments made by cash, check, and credit card, ensuring all transactions are recorded accurately.
• Respond to billing questions from the public and explain account information clearly, including when customers are frustrated or need additional support.
• Search for customer accounts within billing and accounting systems to verify balances, payment status, and related details.
• Support daily accounts receivable and cashiering activities while maintaining organized and accurate financial records.
• Help the team manage increased workload related to utility billing and seasonal renewal activity by providing dependable front-line assistance.
• Use computer-based tools and department software to enter payment information, review account data, and complete routine billing tasks.
• Maintain attention to detail when reconciling payment amounts and handling money throughout the workday.
