Job Description
Job Summary We are seeking a dynamic and compassionate Activities Coordinator to energize and enrich the lives of residents in a senior care environment. In this role, you will design, organize, and facilitate engaging recreational activities tailored to residents' interests and needs. Your enthusiasm and creativity will foster a vibrant community atmosphere, promote social interaction, and enhance overall well-being. This position offers an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of seniors, including those with memory care needs such as Alzheimer's and dementia. Duties Plan, coordinate, and execute a variety of engaging activities that promote socialization, cognitive stimulation, and physical wellness for residents. Tailor activities to meet individual needs, including those with disabilities or requiring specialized dementia or Alzheimer's care. Collaborate with nursing staff, caregivers, and family members to develop personalized activity plans that support residents' interests and abilities. Lead recreational therapy sessions, including arts and crafts, music therapy, games, outings, and fitness programs. Assist residents with activities of daily living (ADLs) as needed during events to ensure participation and comfort. Manage activity schedules efficiently to ensure timely execution of daily programs while maintaining flexibility for spontaneous engagement. Maintain detailed records of resident participation, preferences, and progress to inform ongoing care plans. Qualifications Proven experience in event planning within assisted living or long-term care settings; nursing home experience is highly preferred. Strong background in senior care, memory care, dementia care, or Alzheimer's care with an understanding of aging issues counseling. Knowledge of recreational therapy techniques and working with individuals with disabilities or special needs. Excellent communication skills to effectively engage residents, families, and team members. Ability to assist residents with ADLs during activities while maintaining patience and sensitivity. Experience managing schedules and coordinating multiple activities simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
