Job Description
Position Summary The Activity Director is responsible for planning, organizing, and directing a comprehensive activity program that meets the physical, mental, psychosocial, and spiritual needs of residents in accordance with federal, state, and facility guidelines. This role ensures residents maintain the highest practicable level of well-being and quality of life. Key Responsibilities Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized and group activity programs based on resident interests, abilities, and care plans Conduct resident assessments and participate in interdisciplinary care plan meetings Ensure activity programming supports cognitive, physical, emotional, and social engagement Plan and coordinate special events, community outings, and holiday activities Maintain accurate documentation of resident participation, assessments, and progress Manage the activity department budget, supplies, and equipment Supervise and train activity staff, volunteers, and community partners Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements (CMS, state, and facility policies) Collaborate with nursing, therapy, and administration to enhance resident outcomes Promote a positive, engaging environment that supports resident dignity and independence Qualifications Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Recreation Therapy, Activities, Social Work, or related field preferred Certified Activity Director (ADC or equivalent) required per state regulations Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in long-term care or healthcare activities programming Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills Understanding of geriatric populations, dementia care, and resident rights Ability to lead, motivate, and develop team members Core Competencies Resident-centered approach Creativity and program development Regulatory compliance and documentation accuracy Leadership and team supervision Time management and multitasking Working Conditions May require occasional evenings, weekends, and holidays based on activity schedule Frequent interaction with residents, families, and interdisciplinary team members
Pay:
