IS A DUAL POSITION
Primary Purpose:
ACTIVITY AIDE
Develop, coordinate, and implement resident activities at Lewiston Senior Living. Encourage community participation by residents in activities providing physical, social, intellectual, and spiritual development with an opportunity to use individual talents and skills.
Qualifications:
High School diploma with some college or related training preferred. Prior experience in planning and implementing activities and events. Experience in working with senior adults; knowledgeable and sensitive to the needs and concerns of the senior population. MN Commercial Driver's License with a passenger endorsement
Other Specialized Knowledge and Abilities:
This position requires incumbent to have: Excellent written and verbal English language skills. Ability to operate computer and software. Excellent listening and response skills in communicating with the resident community. Discretion in retaining confidential information with [Name of AL] and between staff and residents. The mind-set of a caregiver with a friendly and positive demeanor towards residents.
Essential Job Functions & Tasks:
Plan/develop/coordinate/implement resident activities. Plan, coordinate and implement activities, events, trips and celebrations. Engage residents to participate in all planned activities. Encourage residents to utilize opportunities to demonstrate their talents and skills within the structure of the programmed activities. Organize residents to plan and assist with scheduled events.
Position Summary:
RESIDENT ASSISTANT
Responsible for providing services to residents. Services may include personal care, activities, housekeeping, dietary assistance, and other assigned duties. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Percentage of Time Assist residents with personal cares and activities: Dressing, bathing/showering, toileting, oral cares, shaving, nail cares, etc.
Other cares as indicated per care plan, ROM exercises, repositioning Apply assistive devices such as hearing aids, glasses, or other aids Assist with transfers and ambulation using walking aids per supervisor and care plan Assist/provide activities for residents and encourage participation Other duties as assigned Assist with food production and meal service: Assist Culinary Staff with minor food preparation and meal service. Ensure food is presented in proper portions and in an appetizing manner. Prioritize tasks and complete assignments efficiently. Maintain a professional image and adhere to community dress and decorum expectations. Provide a comfortable dining experience and friendly service for residents. Consistently follow food safety and sanitation guidelines, per Culinary Manager Observation of residents while performing care. Responsible for alerting nurse of any changes observed, i.e. changes in skin, mental status, confusion, and behaviors as delegated. Provide health care services, as trained and delegated, specific to each resident's service agreement / care plan, and complete all required documentation. Administration of medication, per MAR (medication administration record) instructions. Obtain resident's vital signs as directed by nurse or care plan Check blood glucose levels or INR, with proper use of equipment and documentation of results. Provide simple dressing changes per nurse instructions. Communicate with supervising nurse regarding any concerns or questions. Record actions and/or observations accurately, as instructed, in proper logbooks or electronic recordkeeping devices Follow HIPAA privacy policies. Adhere to infection prevention and control guidelines. Responsible for household services in residential and common areas; including laundry, removing garbage, vacuuming, dusting, bedmaking, changing bed linens and other housekeeping duties as directed.
