Adapted Physical Education Teacher - Summer Session

Role and Responsibilities The Adapted PE Teacher is responsible for organizing and implementing an instructional program that meets the individual needs of all students.

• Design an Adaptive PE program that is consistent with the transdisciplinary philosophy of the school
• Develop APE activities that meet the diverse needs of all the students
• Develop appropriate APE goals and objectives for each student's IEP
• Understand the wide range of abilities and challenges associated with our student population
• Understand how specific individual characteristics can influence movement skill functioning
• Work closely and cooperatively with teachers and therapists to create an appropriate program to meet all needs
• Improve physical activity and health outcomes through an Adaptive PE program
• Design and develop school-wide activities throughout the year to assist in promoting school-wide unity
• Communicate effectively with entire team of school personnel and families as needed
• Have basic computer skills to access email and IEPDirect
• Assist within specific classrooms as needed as determined by the Director of Education Qualifications and Education Requirements Must be a NYS certified Physical Education Teacher, prefer a NYS certified Adapted Physical Education Teacher or experience with students with disabilities.

$35.00 - $39.50 per hour
