Job Description

The School of Arts and Sciences seeks adjunct faculty to teach biology lab courses for the upcoming Fall 2026 semester on our Boston campus. Lab courses include first-year college biology, second-year microbiology, and anatomy & physiology.

Delivers laboratory instructionCommunicates with lab coordinators in a professional and timely manner in preparation for teaching.

Comes prepared to teach, including reviewing background content, lab protocols, instructor notes, videos, etc.

Assist with set-up and clean-up of lab materialsGrades assignments in a timely mannerReplies to emails from students, lab coordinators, and administrators in a timely mannerUses the University's learning management system to enter gradesAssists students through office hours or scheduled appointments, by Zoom/Teams, phone or email, and through other University-approved mechanisms
Required:
Advanced degree (masters or PhD) in biology or similar disciplineCommitment to undergraduate education and student successMinimum of one (1) year teaching biology at the college/university level, preferredFor microbiology labs, experience with oil immersion microscopy, Gram staining, aseptic technique, biochemical tests, serial dilutions, etc.

Excellent organizational and communication skillsMust be able to work both independently and as part of a team, effectively interacting with a wide array of parties at all levels (students, faculty, lab coordinators, co-instructors, administration, staff)CompensationThe pay range associated with this posting reflects the amount the University reasonably expects to pay for this role at this time. Salary offers are determined based on experience, skills, and qualifications as well as internal equity, market data and pay in comparison to similarly situated employees doing comparable work.
Hiring Range:
$4,300.00
