Adjunct Instructor Pool - Chemistry Location 8731 South Frontage Road Mayhew, MS Job Type Part-time Job Number 101 Department Instruction Division Academics-Golden Triangle Opening Date 03/16/2026 Description The individual instructor is the key figure in the educational pattern of the college, and his/her attitude, personality, skill, character, and initiative will determine how well the college fulfills its objectives. He/she plays a prominent role in curriculum development through continual evaluation. Duties Teaches all classes and labs as assigned Demonstrates a thorough understanding of the subject Communicates with students the goals, objectives, and expectations of the course Assigns learning activities which promote understanding of the course content Keeps accurate records of attendance and grades and submits all reports and other requested information promptly and accurately Maintains discipline in the classroom Attends faculty meetings and other required meetings as prescribed Meets all classes promptly and regularly and begins and ends class on time Participates actively in professional development opportunities in the discipline Effectively communicates with, cooperates with and supports other college personnel in daily activities Supports the College mission implicitly and explicitly in the daily execution of all duties and responsibilities Participates in Institutional Effectiveness activities Represents the College in a professional manner as evidenced by dress, demeanor and the discharge of daily responsibilities Qualifications and Required Documents Minimum Academic Credentials Applicants must meet one of the following credential pathways : Option 1 - Preferred Master's degree in: Chemistry Biochemistry Chemical Sciences Or closely related field Option 2 Master's degree in a related discipline with a minimum of 18 graduate semester hours in Chemistry Acceptable Graduate Coursework Areas General Chemistry Organic Chemistry Analytical Chemistry Physical Chemistry Biochemistry Preferred Qualifications Prior college-level teaching experience Experience teaching: General Chemistry I & II Organic Chemistry Introductory Chemistry Experience supervising chemistry laboratories Additional Expectations Adjunct instructors must: Maintain laboratory safety standards Supervise laboratory activities and experiments Adjunct instructors are expected to: Deliver instruction aligned with EMCC course outcomes. Maintain accurate attendance and grade records. Use the Canvas and maintain grade records. Participate in institutional effectiveness and assessment activities. Follow EMCC policies and procedures regarding instructional minutes, grading, and academic integrity. Please do not submit your application until you have uploaded all required documents.
