About the
Job:
Cochrane Supply is a technology company distributing Building Automation and IIoT products seeking an Administrative Assistant to manage various administrative tasks at our Technical Services office in Madison Heights, MI. The Tech Services Admin is responsible for assisting with driving training operations, ensuring smooth class execution through expert management of registrations, billing, logistics and customer communications. This role provides essential day-to-day support for our Training coordinator and instructional staff. The ideal candidate should be highly motivated and eager to learn and should be able adapt to changing priorities while maintaining a positive attitude. A strong understanding of computers and MS Office products will be required.
Hours, Salary, Location:
Full time, hourly position, typically 40 hours a week, Monday - Friday. Compensation from $18/hour, negotiable based on experience.
Core duties:
Serve as the first point of contact for the Tech Center by answering and routing multi-line phone calls, greeting customers and guests, supporting student communications, and assisting with administrative requests through the helpdesk system. Provide day-to-day administrative and operational support for training activities, including class registration and invoicing, meeting and travel coordination, document preparation, and classroom readiness. Support Tech Center operations through cross-functional collaboration, inventory oversight, office organization, supply management, and maintenance of a professional training environment. Coordinate meetings and events, including scheduling, room setup and cleanup, meal coordination, and support for trainers and staff during live classes. Maintain accurate administrative and operational records, including technical support tickets, shipment tracking, inventory records, receipts, and archived communications. Assist with maintaining shared office and common spaces, including kitchens, conference rooms, classrooms, refreshments, décor, and general workplace presentation for employee and customer-facing functions. Provide administrative and operational support across departments as business needs require, contributing to company-wide initiatives, events, and shared organizational goals. Other duties as assigned.
Necessary Experience:
Highly motivated individual with the ability to effectively prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment. Ability to work independently and follow through on assignments and projects with minimal supervision. Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to maintain accurate records and documentation. Proficient with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Microsoft Teams. Professional, polished, and customer-focused demeanor, serving as a welcoming first point of contact for customers, students, vendors, and employees. Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills across phone, email, and in-person interactions. Demonstrated customer service experience with the ability to respond professionally and effectively to inquiries and requests. Strong listening skills with the ability to take direction, retain new information, adapt to changing priorities, and learn new systems and processes quickly.
Minimum Education:
High school diploma or GED required. Some college preferred.
