The organization operates at the intersection of clinical care, laboratory processing, and data-driven system design, with an emphasis on autologous cellular therapies and scalable, compliant laboratory and operational infrastructure. BBRC is in an early stage build phase. This role is not a maintenance role—it is a foundational role responsible for establishing the business, administrative, and operational discipline required to support a high-performing cellular therapy laboratory within a regulated clinical and research environment. Position Overview The Executive Director serves as the senior business and administrative executive of the cellular therapy laboratory, responsible for ensuring the laboratory is properly staffed, supplied, and financially managed on a daily basis. This hands-on role is focused on the business and administrative infrastructure of the laboratory, including purchasing, budgeting, vendor management, human resources, and operational discipline. The Executive Director ensures that all non-technical aspects of the laboratory are functioning reliably and consistently so that technical, quality, and clinical teams can execute without disruption. This role is comparable to a hospital laboratory administrator. It does not oversee laboratory workflows, scientific execution, or quality decisions, but instead provides the structure and accountability required for consistent daily performance and operational reliability. BBRC operates as a laboratory business within a nonprofit structure. The Executive Director also coordinates nonprofit administrative functions and compliance support through external CPA, bookkeeping, and legal partners. Core Accountability The Executive Director is accountable for: Ensuring the laboratory is staffed, supplied, and operationally ready each day from a business and administrative standpoint Maintaining budget discipline and accurate expense tracking in alignment with Board-approved budgets and financial policies Enforcing administrative discipline, including scheduling and non-technical staff reliability Managing vendor relationships and ensuring consistent delivery of services and materials Maintaining organized, scalable business and administrative systems that support reliable daily operations Supporting nonprofit governance and compliance administratively through external partners Maintaining alignment between administrative processes and applicable quality requirements Key Responsibilities Operational Readiness & Administrative Discipline Ensure the laboratory is prepared for daily operations from a business and administrative standpoint Confirm required supplies, materials, and services are available for scheduled laboratory activities Monitor staff scheduling, attendance, and punctuality for non-technical and administrative personnel Address gaps in staffing coverage and administrative performance Identify and resolve logistical issues that could disrupt laboratory operations Purchasing & Vendor Management Procure laboratory supplies, reagents, equipment, and services in coordination with technical and quality leadership as needed Establish and manage vendor relationships Negotiate pricing, contracts, and delivery timelines Ensure timely and consistent availability of required materials • Ensure coordination with Quality where operational vendor activities intersect with compliance requirements Budgeting & Expense Management Develop and manage the laboratory operating budget for submission to and oversight by the Board of Directors Track all expenses in coordination with CPA and bookkeeping support Monitor spending trends and identify cost efficiencies Maintain clear financial reporting and visibility for Board review Resource Planning (Non-Technical) Anticipate supply, equipment, and service needs based on laboratory usage from an operational and administrative perspective Coordinate procurement timelines with laboratory requirements Ensure uninterrupted availability of critical resources Human Resources & Administrative Management Manage hiring logistics, onboarding, and personnel administration for non-technical roles Maintain HR records and ensure compliance with applicable policies Coordinate payroll, benefits, and administrative processes Support performance management from an administrative and accountability perspective Nonprofit Administration & Governance Coordinate with external CPA, bookkeeper, and legal advisors Support board administration and reporting Ensure nonprofit compliance requirements are met from an administrative and reporting standpoint Maintain organizational records and documentation Business Systems & Infrastructure Maintain systems for: Expense tracking Vendor management Administrative documentation Ensure administrative processes are organized, efficient, and scalable Support continuous improvement of business infrastructure
Role Boundaries The Executive Director:
Does not manage laboratory workflows or technical execution Does not make scientific or clinical decisions Does not override Quality or Technical authority This role is strictly responsible for business operations, administrative systems, and resource support. Required Qualifications Education (Minimum) Bachelor's degree in business administration, Finance, Healthcare Administration, or a related business or administrative discipline required Preferred Education Master's degree in healthcare administration (MHA), Business Administration (MBA), or a related administrative or healthcare management field strongly preferred Experience Experience in business operations, administration, or financial management Experience managing budgets, vendors, and administrative systems Experience in healthcare, laboratory, or life sciences environments preferred Core Capabilities Strong organizational and financial management skills High attention to detail and process discipline Ability to enforce structure, accountability, and follow-through Ability to manage multiple administrative functions simultaneously Strong communication and coordination skills across functional teams Preferred Background Experience supporting regulated or technical environments Familiarity with nonprofit structures or governance Experience working with external service providers (CPA, legal, or HR fields) Role Characteristics Business and administrative focus High accountability for operational readiness and financial discipline Support-oriented role enabling technical and clinical teams Structured, process-driven environment Emphasis on consistency, reliability, and daily executionPay:
