Job Description

POSITION DESCRIPTION
Ka ʻAha functions as the "cordage" of the Hale—securing the house through consistent operational and administrative support. The position manages core infrastructure including financial tracking, bill payment, documentation systems, and administrative coordination, while supporting communication and logistical needs across projects. The role ensures that the systems of the Hale are steady and responsive, allowing organizations to focus on frontline work. Ka 'Aha navigates and supports overall strategies and operations for Maui Grassroots Collective's (MGC), holds responsibility for financial and operational management, staff and staffing, fiscal sponsorship project/program support that fulfill MGC's mission. Ka 'Aha participates in and plays a coordinating role in the MGC Steering Committee and its sub-committees, the project leadership bodies that guide MGC's organizational development and community work. Together with the Steering Committee, Ka 'Aha sees that MGC provides project support and fiscal sponsorship that fulfills MGC's founding purpose. Ka 'Aha manages the day to day operations of Maui Grassroots Collective in close partnership with the Bookkeeper Operations Coordinator. Ka 'Aha works with MGC's Human Resources Manager and Finance Manager (Steering Committee appointments; various Project Directors), Board of Directors, and related sub-Committees to support key processes and functions. The position provides supportive supervision for MGC staff, staff systems, and MGC Admin contractors, including Development/ Fundraising, accounting and others as needed.

Ongoing position, 6 Months (Minimum) trial to start
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Organizational Operations, Logistics & Administration Grants, Fundraising & Development Financial Management Support Communications Support Board facilitation
QUALIFICATIONS
Current resident on Maui B.A. preferred, not required At least 3-5 years experience in administration or work experience in related field and position At least 3 years of experience in organizational leadership or nonprofit administration or management Experience fundraising, grant writing and supervising a development team/committee for grants, fundraising, and programs Experience tracking and organizing financial information, including income, receipts, donations, budgets, and grants Demonstrated ability to manage office operations, including bill payment systems, calendar coordination, and basic IT infrastructure Familiarity with financial administration processes such as contractor coordination, invoice processing, payment tracking, and documentation management Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in maintaining accurate financial and administrative records Ability to support internal and external communications across multiple projects and teams Proficiency with common administrative and financial tools (e.g., spreadsheets, accounting software, calendar systems, communication platforms)

$60,000
