Administrative Associate Working Title Administrative Associate Competency Level Journey Home Department CHSSA Dean's Office - 32100 Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit The CHSSA Academic Resource Center (CHSSA ARC) provides holistic academic advising services to students in our departments, to champion our students as they navigate their collegiate experience. The Administrative Associate will advance the mission of the ARC by providing business services that support the day-to-day operations of the unit and the college. This position is assigned to the

at the University of North Carolina Wilmington. This position supports 1 Director, 2 Coordinators, and 8 Academic Advisors in all administrative functions. Location of Workplace Main UNCW Campus Brief Summary of Work for this Position The Administrative Associate will provide comprehensive office support and receptionist duties for the College of Humanities, Social Sciences, and the Arts (CHSSA) and the Academic Resource Center (ARC). This role includes managing the department budget, supporting academic advising, and coordinating various administrative tasks. The position requires excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently on special projects.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage academic advising assignments and process student information requests. Assign advisors to new and transfer students. Collect and compile student success data. Develop and maintain schedules for advising center activities and events. Oversee the ARC reception area, providing customer service and addressing inquiries. Process purchasing, requisitions, and travel arrangements. Manage departmental budgets. Manage event logistics and execute special projects. Recruit and supervise student workers. Track curricular actions in Curriculum. Maintain and reconcile the departmental budget. Minimum Education and Experience Requirements High school diploma or equivalency; or demonstrated possession of the competencies necessary to perform the work. Preferred education, professional skills and experience Experience with Banner and/or other commonly used higher education software systems Associate or Bachelor degree from an accredited institution. Experience with providing administrative support or office management Ability to learn and quickly utilize new software programs or technology Ability to work independently High level of attention to detail Excellent organization and customer service skills Required Certifications or licensure
