This includes the collection of UI contributions/taxes from employers on a quarterly basis, and the distribution of unemployment compensation to New Mexicans who have lost their jobs through no fault of their own and meet various eligibility requirements. The Division executes these functions via robust self-service web services, as well as through staff assisted services via the UI Operations Center. Interviews will be conducted within 10 days of closing posting date. Why does the job exist? The administration of the UI program is primarily federally funded and is supplemented with state general fund support. The UI program provides unemployment compensation benefits to workers who are unemployed through no fault of their own and meet certain eligibility requirements. How does it get done? Apply advanced research and/or management analysis to complex problems, acts as a team leader for special projects and provides coordination with computer systems personnel. Apply advanced program analyses, oversight, and planning and consultation services to/for Local Governments. Deal with complex interrelated management problems and may serve as consultants on local, district, state, regional, or federal comprehensive planning programs. Perform program management functions with expertise in a field or occupation and may function as a consultant, requiring high levels of complexity, problem solving, and/or accountability. Operate independently within diversified procedures and standards and may be involved in the training of others. Proactively interact with staff members and customers to directly influence and impact results of the programs and agency mission. May handle deposits and cash transactions. Who are the customers? Individuals who have applied for Unemployment Insurance Benefits and USDOL. Approximately 7,000 new individuals are certifying for UI benefits every week, with 9,363 individuals on weekly continued claims. Currently 53,796 employers are making quarterly contributions to the New Mexico UI trust fund. Ideal Candidate Individuals who have applied for Unemployment Insurance Benefits and USDOL. Minimum Qualification Associate Degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, or Accounting and one (1) year of directly related job experience in the areas of office administration, budgeting, purchasing, finance, accounting, auditing, cash management, contract management, and/or in the procedures of business and management principles involved in strategic planning. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling three (3) years may substitute for the required education and experience. Employment Requirements Successful completion of a background check is required for this position. Working Conditions This position is located in the Unemployment Insurance (UI) Operations inbound call center. Work is performed in an open floor office concept, call center environment with exposure to Visual/Video Display Terminal (VDT), extensive personal computer and phone usage, moderate noise, and possible dust.
