Job Description
The City of Fort Lauderdale seeks an Administrative Supervisor for the Real Estate Program. This newly created position supports the City Manager's Office in advancing the real estate program. It will serve as a lead in managing city properties and will have will have direct coordination with landlords regarding building conditions, tenant relations, and as a designated City liaison; will work closely with third parties to conduct duties as needed to advance City business such as appraisals, title searches, surveys, and other real estate services; and will perform routine administrative and clerical work such as the preparation of memorandums, reports, emails, and other correspondence. This is a classified position covered by the Personnel Rules. This is a Management Category III position which includes six (6) additional Management Vacation Days and a Vehicle Allowance of $250/month. Essential functions are the basic job duties that an employee must be able to perform, with or without reasonable accommodation. Coordinates with City departments, Charter offices, agencies, private developers, and community stakeholders to advance initiatives in alignment with the City's comprehensive plan and strategic goals. Prepares and presents recommendations to the City Manager's Office regarding property, asset, or real estate-related matters. Oversees external consultants, appraisers, brokers, attorneys, and other professionals engaged in real estate transactions and projects. Develops and implements real estate policies, procedures, and strategies to support economic development, redevelopment, and operational efficiency. Represents the City in public meetings, community workshops, public hearings, and intergovernmental discussions on real estate and redevelopment initiatives, ensuring transparency and alignment with industry best practices, legislative direction, and community needs. Prepares and coordinates the timely submission of all Commission agenda items for the assigned department. Conducts fact-finding interviews; observes operations; consults with management; and explains recommendations for changes in work operations and other key actions. Monitors various department budgets and reports any issues or shortfalls. Responsible for lease management services, setting and collecting rent, managing financial records, operating budgets, enforcing lease agreements, and processing delinquent payments. Acquires and disseminates information concerning work methods and procedures, organization, work controls, and similar management functions. Compiles data, analyzes information, and generates various reports. May provide day-to-day supervision and training of assigned staff members; monitors performance and conducts evaluations. Communicates with staff regarding inquiries related to department procedures, Personnel Rules, and union contracts as they relate to department operations. Performs related work as required.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, or a closely related field. Three (3) or more years of work experience in the analysis, planning and development of programs, policies, operations, methods and/or procedures. One (1) or more years of supervisory experience. Master's degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, or a closely related field. Possession of a valid Real Estate License with experience in property management, appraisals, title searches, and/or surveys. As public servants, employees may be required to work immediately before, during, and/or after an emergency. All employees must be available and able to work assigned shifts as determined by their Department Heads.
