The Plate Coordinator serves as the critical link between customer design requirements and the physical production of printing plates. This role ensures all incoming artwork is technically viable for high-quality printing while managing the procurement, inventory, and administrative workflow of the plate department. This is a part-time position (Monday through Friday from 9:00am - 2:00pm) on-site in our Hammond, LA facility. How you will make an impact in this role:
Customer Consultation & Art Assessment:
Direct Customer Interaction:
Serve as the primary point of contact for customers and sales team regarding technical plate specifications and art file status.
Printability Assessment:
Review customer artwork to assess technical printability, checking for critical factors like trapping and color separations.
Functional Changes:
Suggest and coordinate necessary modifications to artwork to optimize it for specific printing.
Quoting:
Provide accurate price quotes to customers for plate production and art recreation.
Plate Procurement & Management:
Ordering:
Place orders for new plates, ensuring accurate communication of all specifications. Place replacement orders.
Inventory Control:
Maintain stock of essential department items.
Inventories:
Conduct regular physical inventories of the department's materials and active/archived plate libraries.
Additional Administrative Duties:
Maintain accurate documentation of all plate orders, specifications, and approved artwork files.

Coordinate proofing and approval timelines to align with schedules.

Provide clear communication to production team regarding changes.

Resolve billing discrepancies or job status inquiries as they arise.

Complete new print set-up.
