Job Description
Description We are looking for a dedicated Collections Specialist to join our team in Loma Linda, California. In this Contract to potential long-term position, you will play a key role in managing and resolving outstanding accounts receivable for commercial clients while ensuring compliance with company policies and maintaining positive client relationships.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee assigned customer accounts to ensure timely collection of outstanding balances.
- Investigate and resolve billing discrepancies, payment disputes, and other account issues.
- Collaborate with internal teams, such as sales and customer service, to address account concerns and support accurate invoicing.
- Maintain detailed records of collections activities, payment arrangements, and communications.
- Prepare and present aging reports and status updates on collection efforts to management.
- Recommend appropriate actions for delinquent accounts, including escalation or write-offs.
- Ensure adherence to company policies, procedures, and relevant regulations.
- Assist with month-end and year-end closing processes related to accounts receivable.
- Utilize tools such as Microsoft Excel and accounting systems to track and manage collections.
- Work proactively to minimize financial risks and improve cash flow management. Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; an associate or bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or business is preferred.
- A minimum of 2 years of experience in business-to-business (B2B) collections or accounts receivable.
- Strong knowledge of commercial credit and collections processes.
- Proficiency in Excel and accounting platforms such as Great Plains.
- Exceptional communication and negotiation skills to handle client interactions effectively.
- Ability to work independently while managing multiple tasks in a dynamic environment.
- Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills to maintain accurate records.
- Familiarity with credit risk assessment and financial reporting is a plus.
