https://www.riverpointbehavioral.com/ We are pleased to announce the following position: FT Medical Collections Representative., Job Duties The Patient Account Representative is responsible for managing patient accounts to ensure accurate billing, timely follow-up, and optimal reimbursement. This role supports the healthcare revenue cycle by processing claims, resolving account issues, communicating with payers and patients, and ensuring compliance with all billing regulations and payer requirements. The Patient Accounts Rep is primarily responsible for time timely follow up of insurance claims until the final disposition. This would include follow up on billed claims, researching and resolving denied claims, and working with other departments as necessary. This role should have administrative and critical thinking skills with the ability to multi-task and the ability to use your judgement on complex account problems. This role must also have excellent customer service when answering questions and finding resolutions to billing issues. This role uses Excel spreadsheets and must understand credit balances and insurance verification. This position assists the Business Office Director with special projects as needed. Key Responsibilities Billing & Accounts Management Review and manage assigned patient accounts from billing through final resolution. Submit accurate and timely claims to government and commercial payers. Post payments, adjustments, and contractual allowances accurately. Identify and correct billing errors to prevent claim delays or denials. Insurance & Payer Follow-Up Follow up on unpaid or underpaid claims with insurance companies. Research and resolve claim denials, rejections, and payment discrepancies. Initiate appeals and provide supporting documentation as required. Verify insurance benefits and coverage when necessary. Patient Communication Respond to patient inquiries regarding billing statements, insurance coverage, and account balances. Explain charges, insurance payments, and patient financial responsibility in a clear, professional manner. Set up payment plans and process patient payments as needed. Maintain confidentiality and provide excellent customer service. Compliance & Documentation Ensure compliance with HIPAA, billing regulations, and payer guidelines. Maintain accurate account notes and documentation in the billing system. Follow established policies and procedures related to billing and collections. Reporting & Productivity Meet or exceed productivity and quality benchmarks. Identify trends or recurring issues and escalate concerns to leadership. Participate in process improvement initiatives and training programs. Required Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree preferred. 1-3 years of healthcare billing, collections, or patient accounts experience (experience level may vary by organization). Knowledge of healthcare insurance plans, billing processes, and explanation of benefits (EOBs). Basic understanding of Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial payer guidelines. Proficiency with billing systems and electronic health records (EHR). Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Preferred Qualifications Experience in hospital, ambulatory surgery center (ASC), or physician practice settings. Familiarity with CPT, HCPCS, and ICD-10 coding concepts. Experience with denial management and appeals. Certification such as CPB, CRCR, or CPC (preferred but not required).
