We are currently looking for a Collections Specialist to work in our billing department based out of our Overland Park location.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Identifies delinquent accounts, aging period and payment sources. Processes delinquent unpaid accounts by contacting patients. Evaluates patient financial status and establishes budget payment plans. Follows and reports status of delinquent accounts. Reviews statements and accounts for possible assignment to collection agency. Develops collection letters. Record detailed notes regarding conversations and payment arrangements discussed. Analyze patient financial situation and help to resolve the account. Streamline refund and overpay process. Set up and maintain unclaimed property process. Manage collections process. Manage payment plans. Communicate with patients regarding account status. Participates in educational activities. Maintains strictest confidentiality. Performs other related duties as required and assigned.
Requirements/Qualifications:
Excellent written and communication skills. Critical thinking and problem-solving skills. Attention to detail. Proficiency with EMR systems and software applications. Proficiency in Excel. High level of professionalism.
Preferred Qualifications:
Background in medical collections for at least one year Experience with electronic medical records (EMR) Working knowledge of CPT and ICD-10 codes as well as medical terminology.
Experience:
1+ years' experience in medical collections or relevant field preferred. Experience with electronic medical records (EMR). High school diploma or equivalent required. •Paid health, dental, and vision insurance premiums for employees•
