Collections Specialist Summit Employment Professionals - 4.3 Wichita, KS Job Details Full-time $18 - $22 an hour 20 hours ago Qualifications Microsoft Outlook Cash application Spreadsheets High school diploma or GED Attention to detail Organizational skills Property management Collections account management Full Job Description Position Summary The Property Management Collections Specialist is responsible for managing delinquent accounts, collecting outstanding balances, resolving resident and former resident account disputes, and ensuring compliance with company policies and applicable laws. This position serves as the primary point of contact for collections-related matters, including security deposit disposition inquiries and disputes, payment arrangements, lease balance collections, and coordination with third-party collection agencies when necessary. Key Responsibilities Collections & Accounts Receivable Monitor and manage delinquent resident and former resident accounts. Contact residents regarding past-due balances through phone calls, emails, text messages, letters, and other approved communication methods. Prepare and deliver notices related to delinquent accounts in accordance with company policies and applicable laws. Negotiate and administer payment arrangements when approved by management. Track collection efforts and maintain accurate documentation within the property management software. Review tenant ledgers to ensure charges, payments, and credits are accurately applied. Coordinate with attorneys, collection agencies, and court personnel as needed. Monitor payment plan compliance and follow up on missed payments. Recommend accounts for legal action, collections placement, or write-off when appropriate. Security Deposit Dispute Resolution Review security deposit dispositions, invoices, photographs, inspection reports, and lease documentation. Respond to former resident inquiries regarding security deposit deductions and move-out charges. Investigate disputes by gathering supporting documentation from maintenance, vendors, property managers, and accounting personnel. Prepare written responses explaining charges, lease obligations, and supporting evidence. Work to resolve disputes professionally while protecting the interests of property owners and the management company. Maintain detailed records of all communications and dispute outcomes. Coordinate with management regarding escalated disputes, legal claims, BBB complaints, online reviews, or attorney correspondence. Ensure security deposit accounting complies with state laws and company policies. Administrative Duties Process incoming payments and update account records. Generate account statements and balance verification requests. Assist with special projects and other accounting or administrative tasks as assigned. Support property management and accounting teams in achieving company goals. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree preferred. Minimum of 2 years of collections, property management, accounting, customer service, or related experience preferred. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong understanding of leases, security deposit accounting, and collections processes. Strong conflict resolution and negotiation skills. Ability to maintain professionalism during difficult conversations. Ability to interpret invoices, maintenance reports, inspection reports, and financial records. Experience with property management software such as Buildium or similar systems preferred. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, and Outlook. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Ability to handle confidential information with discretion. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines. Ability to work independently while collaborating with multiple departments. Knowledge of landlord-tenant laws and property management practices preferred. Ability to prepare professional written correspondence for disputes and collections matters.
Pay:
$18.00 - $22.00 per hour
