Randstad has a temporary opportunity for 2 to 3 mths. The position will be located in Downtown Louisville. Position is 100% in office. We are seeking a resilient, empathetic, and results-driven Collections Specialist to join our client's finance team. In this role, your core responsibility will be managing high-risk portfolios and directly contacting customers with significantly overdue accounts and bad debt. The ideal candidate excels in difficult conversations, possesses top-tier negotiation skills, and can balance firmness with professionalism to secure payments on accounts that have resisted standard collection efforts.

Bad Debt Recovery & Outreach Conduct heavy outbound phone outreach directly to customers with severely delinquent accounts and bad debt. Investigate and locate non-responsive customers using skip-tracing tools and databases. Navigate highly sensitive, high-stress conversations with firmness, empathy, and professionalism. Negotiate creative payment plans, settlements, or lump-sum payoffs within company guidelines to recover maximum outstanding funds. Account Analysis & Discrepancy Resolution Review aging reports to identify and prioritize high-risk, write-off eligible accounts. Audit account histories to identify the root cause of non-payment and resolve complex billing disputes. Maintain meticulous, legally compliant records of all customer interactions, payment agreements, and refusal reasons in our CRM/ERP system. Escalation & Compliance Evaluate accounts to determine if they are uncollectible and recommend them for legal action or third-party agency assignment. Ensure 100% compliance with all federal, state, and local collection laws (e.g., Fair Debt Collection Practices Act - FDCPA) to mitigate company liability.
